*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

Amazing to see that this thread is almost at 1 million views! and I think its great to see that AMD have kicked some life into the CPU sector that was becoming more and more stale over the last few years with Intel sleeping on the job.

Im deperate for the APUs to come out so that I can make micro gaming box for lans and for the mrs to use

Tell me about it. No one seems to have a release date for Ryzen 3. I don't fancy a G4560 anymore. And just want to retire my G3258 and can't really justify the R5 or R7

It has to be soon to that, going nuts here lol. Got the upgrade itch!

I understand, they also mentioned OEM partners, and those system launching end of Q2. Makes me wonder if the bulk of R3 supply might be heading to them.

OEM's are far more important than us really; as AMD has never had a proper presence there.

It could also be quite possible that the R3 is based on salvaged APU chips too - it seems the APU will be a one CCX design.

14 Cores would be very interesting as you could in theory run multiple functions off one very powerful machine which people currently would have multiple devices for.

Indeed. To build a machine with that kind off performance now, you need to spend 10's of thousands on a pair of exotic Xeons.
