*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

TechPowerUp did a nice break down on the slides: https://www.techpowerup.com/235092/...cessors-glued-together-in-official-slide-deck

Why did Intel decide to compare a Xeon chip to the 1800X? Both completely difference prices, TDP and market.

Also Intel please, don't forget the Core 2 Quad existed ;). Nothing wrong with "gluing" dies together...
To be fair, they can't compare to EPYC since they don't have one. They're downclocking the 1800X to approximate an 8c/16t EPYC chip I guess.

AMD have shown off the Zen laptop APU. Seems a plus 50%~ CPU and GPU performance uplift over Bristol Ridge... How long before the Intel shareholders kick out the board?

I used to think of a Core2Quad's as a cheat with the way they were made, but honestly, if it works, it works. no one at the time seemed to care about it because it was Intel.

I think AMD made a tough yet smart decision with the way they constructed their CPU's.
