*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

I imagine this has been posted before but incase it hasn't here it is, a look at Intel's promotional work to deal with Naples which it call's glued together desktop die's.

Desperation or do they have a point?

AMD's CPU are better performance per watt, better performance per $ and just have outright better multi-threaded performance.

Intel may have some sort of point if AMD's "Glued Together" Chip was crap, but it isn't, by comparison Intel chips, while not crap, are lacking.

AMD's "Glued Together" CPU's are just plain better than Intel's, so no, they don't have a point, Intel are in panic mode.

It doesn't matter, the issue that they are 'glued' together doesn't matter, how they are glued together does. Intel's new chips cost $13000 for use in a 8S system.... which is basically CPUs glued together using an interconnect to talk from one cpu to the other. AMD has a higher speed and I believe lower latency interconnect yet Intel is talking about glueing chips to work together as bad... when their most expensive chips are designed to be used in a broadly speaking similar way.

Worse still they kept banging on about it being a desktop die, I said in the other thread it's insane because they are saying AMD suck, they can't even make you a dedicated server chip...... but what they are in effect saying is, AMD is competitive or even beating us with a chip that wasn't even designed for server and was only glued together while we spent billions on R&D on a dedicated server chip. That is what they are saying and it's what's hilarious because it's basically saying look how stupid these AMD chips are... how are we unable to thrash them and why are we charging 4 times as much for crap chips we can't beat. Their marketing strategy here is about as sensible as releasing quad core chips on x299.

Building a little ryzen system this week, matx 1700 build with a fury x. Be interesting to see how it performs :). Ordered 16 gigs corsair lpx 3200 ddr4 which is what i have in my main system hopefully works fine in this. Also hope that gigabyte have some updated bios for the ga-ab350m for better ram speeds.
I'd be interested how this goes as i'm considering do an upgrade with the same parts.

You know that you have beaten your competition if all that he does is talk about you lol Whole presentation was pretty much desperate smear job

This basically. I'd rather they went back to their drawing boards and came up with something better or sorted their prices out! (Long term AMD user by the way. Mainly because they are alwasy cheaper.. :D)
