Oh, it will, it will :D

I was reserved when it was first mentioned over 2 years ago. I'm reserved now. There's no reason why a jaguar version which relies on Steam In Home Streaming never saw the light of day from a technical point of view.

Look at the ETA's. It never happened.

If it comes out as the spec dictates. Then it'll be an absolute feat. Albeit it'll only really shine using Steam In Home Streaming, given its 1080p screen for the PPI. But that's absolutely fine for me.

A year to develop a handheld Games Console was always going to be an impossible task, even Sony would struggle to do that.

The Merlin Falcon SoC APU is also too weak even for something like this, Ryzen SoC are much better suited.

Proof's in the pudding, and it hasn't really been a year given it was first reported on August 2015 ; http://hexus.net/tech/news/systems/85415-smach-zero-portable-steam-machine-pre-order-date-price/

Things like this always get to the concept phase, very rarely do they ever actually appear. Another that's been ongoing for an age ; https://pgslab.com/

I'm all for a 6" 1080p device that can run Steam In Home Streaming with built in gamepad in a quality product. Ultimately we generally end up with crap like this ; https://droidbox.co.uk/gpd-win-droi...NS26-l7v4mRaW5lAKdoE0hgh7tH1OeCxoCHOUQAvD_BwE or even cheaper stuff ; https://www.amazon.co.uk/Linx-Vision-inch-Tablet-Controller/dp/B0187U2M1O

Frankly I don't know why we don't have a cheap SteamOS device on ARM that does it really.

ARM are incompatible with X86_64 games.

I don't know why you've stated the obvious.

Sometimes you must realise you haven't understood the point, rather than someone making a mistake :p?

Steam in Home Streaming (Which frankly is where these devices would shine, rather than native gaming, so you may's well go ARM and just rely on it)

Steam Link is an ARM powered device, yet I've no problems using it to play Witcher 3 on the 55" downstairs etc.

In a similar vein to me playing "The Last Of Us" from my PS4 to my Sony Android phone (Which after updating my network to a rather hefty albeit not top of the line AC router was running flawless)

As long as your network's robust, there's not a vast deal of limitations. I've got an Asus Ultrabook (Fanless, low power CPU) 3200x1800 screen. I can use CRU to render Witcher 3 at 3200x1800 for example and then stream it to my Ultrabook. The image quality maxed out at the 100mb limit though.

What router are you using?

What router are you using?

I use a Netgear X4S nighthawk. The AC2600 one.

There's currently an Asus AC3200 for 150 pound. I'd have bought that in hindsight. I wanted to set the 5GHZ to AC only, but that isn't available on the Netgear.

Today I used my laptop to do a few sections on the last of us through stream.
Then laid in bed and played a bit of The Witcher 3.

Ultimately I'm testing whether or not I keep the router or bump it up to a higher model.

It's one of those things where I'm not sure what's considered underpowered or overpowered. I'd just feel weird buying a 300 pound router.

Does that really need explaining Martin ?

The Link itself does naff all regards actually running the game, it's basically a video receiver and the steam client on the PC is the sender

Is it still an issue with running in modem only mode?

It will be when it comes to the internet (Although I've yet to have any problems myself, albeit that could be down to me literally not doing any online gaming). Anything I'm doing in my network (Such as streaming from PC to Laptop) should be fine if it's just confined to the netgear though I believe?

Any word on more Raven Ridge laptops? As far as I can tell there still seems to be only two (HP and Acer) that uses the higher end ones, but nothing yet for the lower end of the market. Currently have a friend who wants to replace her laptop, but is on a really tight budget. And she discovered Steam recently so wants to move away from the Intel IGP...
