*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

The cpu dropped in and worked onothe gigabyte gaming using the H10 bios. But you need to upgrade to H21 to have GPU options in the bios.

Edit - I now have to work out how to get my 2800Mhz Ram running properly instead of at 2133, understand the Bios so that I can allocate 2 GB of memory to the GPU and how to squeeze the most out of it etc.

Just in terms of a newly set up PC though it is super snappy, the board was easy to work with and the @BIOS update tool worked once you downloaded the H21 bios and chose it manually.

I have also never ever used an RGB board - I was really happy with how the Ram looks and with the red lighting on the motherboard it looks pretty cool. The system looks a bit naked without a GPU in there - but it makes cable management a breeze and airflow super straight forward.

I will download a couple of benchmarking tools tonight to see how it works and how much tweaking the system changes results. If there are any requests I will try and meet them - but I don't have any up to date games to test with, I am going back to Witcher 2 and starting forward from there...

Been looking up reviews of 2200G/2400G, I'm impressed. It's been a while since I've had a PC, so thought I'd build one sometime.

2200G seems like the better value, it's not far behind and is priced nicely, in my opinion.

I have this in my basket at the moment -

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £449.96 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Anything I should change? Ideally I'd like to avoid increasing the price, gave myself a hard limit of £450 (or £400 for Ryzen 3 2200G), I have everything else, case (Silverstone SG05, with 450w PSU), keyboard, etc, covered.

Also, will the motherboard be able to boot out of the box with 2200G/2400G? I'd like to avoid buying older Ryzen CPU, use it to flash new BIOS then return it.

Yes change the 2400Mhz memory for 3000Mhz, that will help a lot with iGPU performance and a bit with CPU performance.

Same cost: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...nel-kit-black-grey-tdpgd48g300-my-070-tg.html

Edit ^^^ i'm glad :) read below.

You know what, i don't think its worth it, i mean what GPU do you have? the 2200G is £150, you'll get what £110 for the 1600X, and the GPU?

Its a Saphire Fury Nitro and yeah I agree I dont think its worth it.

Main thing is I want to move to a smaller footprint, smaller case and GPU as its a 2.2 slot GPU but I dont think I'll enjoy dropping from 1440P and plus 60fps

@humbug

How is Star Citizen performing on your Ryzen Hex?

A mate of mine suggested I get involved, any tips on setup? I have a 1700, RX470 4GB, 3200C14 16GB, I would need to get a controller at least I think.

At the moment Star Citizen performance is entirely dependent on servers, if they are full, which they invariably are its 30 FPS or less.
Its little to do with your CPU, with in reason.

The RX 470 is fast enough for 60Hz 1080P if the server will allow it, the CPU is more than enough, my old 4690K used to get very high loads when the servers let my GPU stretch its legs, the 1600 is much better.

I recorded this less than an hour after 3.0 was launched, Very High Settings 1440P, where GPU bound it was 60Hz, GTX 1070.

In April 3.1 will launch, it promises to fix the server performance issues with a completely rebuilt netcode, as it is its still Cryengine, the whole thing needed to be redone from the ground up and thats now almost done.

What i will do, later is make a recording of me going to Daymar, so you can see how performance is right now, its actually playable despite the low FPS.

Thanks, It will be at 1920 x 1080(1200)p resolution. As I do not currently have more than mouse and keyboard, do you have a suggestion for an additional (cheap) controller to dip my toe in so to speak, do I need one?

I use mouse and Keyboard, you can use a controller or HOTAS but its not necessary, TBH i have never used a controller in this game, some people prefer it.

This is the Star Citizen OCUK official thread, https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/official-star-citizen-squadron-42-thread.18603648/

And because i have a vague excuse to: :D player made video of 3.0, that i think is rather good...

I was wondering, I got one of the AMD branded ships for Star Citizen when they were offered as part of a games bundle, Do you know what that give me access too by any chance?

Good vid by the way :)

In short, everything Star Citizen. if its the Squadron 42 one you get that too...

I just thought, saying that, that AMD ship is the ship you own, whatever ship you own is all the ship you have, unless you buy another or wait for Beta when ships are earned in game.

The reason you see all those ships on the screen in my Video is because some of us have testers accounts and as testers we need access to a wide verity of ships.

The AMD Mustang is a very fast and agile ship, but little weaponry and no cargo. its a good ship, i rather like it.

That's good news I just checked my account which I haven't looked at in 2 or 3 years and it say's I have access to the Star Citizen digital download, Squadron 42 digital download, a digital manual, 2 months insurance and 1000 UEC.

Where do I use the code you put on your video? I joined with my AMD Mustang ship in January 2014 so so far it's taken 4 years to get to where it is today, I'm planning on getting a bigger ship at some point but I want to wait and see what Star Citizen becomes before spending 3 figure sums on a ship.

It looks nice and like you said it should be nippy with some upgrades but I want to be a Space trucker eventually. :)

You have used the AMD code to get the ship at RSI, right?

Hang on mate let me make some screen shots.
