Ordered a 2700x and X470 Gigabyte Aurous Gaming 7 this afternoon. This will be my first AMD processor since the glory days of the Athlon and my first Gigabyte board for quite a while too.

2700x is a bit of a beast. Enjoy
Will do You could argue it was a bit of a sidegrade from a 5820k, but I was starting to have problems with that motherboard, moreso after a recent BIOS update. Had been getting the upgrade itch for a while and it had to be scratched
Interesting to see them doing Tick Tock
LOL it really did show how Intel milked the userbase over the last decadeWithout a new motherbo every 11 months it's not really tick tock.
I much perfer the Intel tick, tack, tock, tick, tack strategy. Same chip with a new motherboard over and over..
Pretty nice deals on first gen TR going on if anyone is in need. You can get a nice ASRock Taichi board and 1950X and still get change from £800, worth looking around.
The nice man from DPD has been and gone:
I'm running 2400MHz memory with my current system, so to do Ryzen justice I *had* to get some lovely B-die memory. It will be interesting to see what the memory can run at in quad channel (4x 8GB DIMMs) - any thoughts?
Below is what my 4 sticks of B-Die run 24/7 stable. CPU speed by the way is now 4.25Ghz, not 4Ghz.
Cheers for the suggestion, any reason why the 2600x?To be honest if you're not going to use all 8 cores 16 threads of the 1700 I'd opt for the 2600x
Yep and 1920X for £289. Before Ryzen, Intel didn't even offer a 12c/24t product in HEDT, they only had a 10c/20t product at over a grand! Some crazy Black Friday deals around, Threadripper 1950x, £421.19
