AMD Zen3 event thread

5900X looks fantastic, great to see AMD on top after so long. The only downside is the price increase, bit of a sour note on what could have been a real drubbing for Intel.

I was surprised to see the 5700X didn't make an appearance, so I'm assuming (hoping) it'll come in the new year with a more affordable price. I'll have to wait and see.

LOL, Intel will be like, "You can't be more expensive than I am! I will raise all my prices! We'll see who can charge the most!"

Both companies want to bend you over and give you a long and painful examination of your nether regions. Whilst Jensen watches, cheering them on :p

Shareholders want them margins, and that's what these prices reflect.

ha it’s been coming for years but so funny to see statements like that when it felt like we’ve been saying that for years about AMD. Won’t be long until AMD are seen as the evil one and people root for Intel to deliver us from evil and the high AMD prices

I don't see them as evil, they are definitely a lot less hated than Intel. I just want competition to make sure the customer keeps getting the best at reasonable pricing.

Surely the price increases have to change peoples perception of "Good guy AMD".

Prices increases are always crap, and AMD are just as "bad" as any company, but AMD look to have the best stuff on the planet so it is what it is. But I expect double standards as usual.

That’s the performance of the new card with, presumably, a 5950x. The 3080 performance is with the current chips. Will be interesting to see what the actual differential ends up being.

It was clearly said that they were using a 5900X in that example. At 4k I'm not sure the CPU will make a huge difference to performance.

I want the 5900X but don't know when (if) my mobo will support it. Do I snag one early, sit on it and cross my fingers, or wait and risk availability and probable price increases early next year, decisions decisions.

So Ive been waiting a month for the launch to see if I should change my plan of an i9 10850 to a Zen 3 and not sure Ive seen any thing amazing enough to change my mind.

Was one of the Zen3 range comparible or better than a 10850 at a better price point?
