Looking at the new stack, there is definitely room for a 5700x between the 5600x and 5800x, there's a $150 gap, so possibly 5700x @ $379 a bit later on.

I can also see a 5600 non x coming in at $249

They haven't and I doubt these will be seeing price cuts anytime soon.

Yes but they should have something at launch, they trying to get people to side grade 6 cores to 6 cores at $300 and trying to get people upgrade from 8 to 12 cores as the 5800x looks bad compared to 5900x, the 5900x is worth the $100 more.

Yes it's the exact same memory controller as confirmed by Gamers Nexus after talks with AMD. 3,600 would still be the realistic max for most. Maybe now 3,733 is more common but meh.

I highly doubt they'll continue making last gen chips. Once Ryzen 3000 product sells out, the gap will be filled with lower cost Ryzen 5000 product.

Almost a decade ago Intel chips were / are being clocked to around that. Does Ghz not matter as much as cores / threads now?

Yeah I get that, when the 3600 dropped they priced it at £200? and it pushed the 2600 down a good amount. The 5600x is a big price up and feels much less like a good budget gaming CPU which it should be. 10600k looks better value at this price.

Pentium 4 wants to have a conversation. Clock speed is meaningless, look at IPC.

IPC is higher, therefore overall performance is better

I think the thing to take away is Zen3 is not a must have product for Zen2 Ryzen 3000 owners (but its there non the less), overall for people rocking CPUs 5,6 & 7yrs old that's a pretty compelling choice as long as you had ur eye on 12 cores or more. Those that wanted a value option got rektd tbh cpus just got more expensive.

I'll see what the pricing settles down to, I was hoping to pick up a discounted 39xx tbh; I'm not CPU bound in games and can always use extra cores for work.

You'd be fine even with a first-gen Ryzen chip. Your CPU needs scale inversely to your preferred resolution, since framerates inevitably come down.

There is definite temptation to find a little more money for the 5900x over the 5800x, but I want to see benchmarks and latency numbers before making a decision.

It was a great show of what AMD is going to bring to the fight and it's actually a little better than I was expecting from them.

I hope the benchmarks support their assertions.

I think there will be some discounting during the BF and CM and pre Christmas periods. So you will see those chips being £50 cheaper. I reckon they will sell out.
