AMG GT R - Der Tag

Very much enjoy reading your thoughts on these kinds of cars, the fact you put miles on and drive it means that you have some actual content to post on the matter rather than "its been in the garage 3 months, took it out for 40 miles, it was really fun"
I did 80 miles last night :D

I took it back, they removed the excess, it is now spot on. To be fair when I did an oil check (it is digital annoyingly) it said OK even though I got the message you see. It was a small amount of excess....but I wanted it right. I recall getting BMW to take oil out of my M3's back in the early 2000's as they had a habit of overfilling by over 1/2 litre!

but still you have some leverage, its not your usual budget motor its a massive amount of money those mistakes should not be made.
It is a judgement call. Do I want immediate satisfaction for little real benefit to me, or do I want to build trust with a dealer who gut feels tell me are trying their best. It is not black and white with these things and these types of cars, trust me.

In some senses though, this is where the manufacturers make life difficult for their service staff.

With no physical dip measure, only a digital one (which was seemingly saying 'OK'), they're a bit stuck if such a warning message only pops up after driving away for 5 minutes. It puts the dealership in a bit of an awkward spot because it sounds like unless they took it out for a spin, there was no way for them to actually know it was overfilled and you can bet they'd typically get more abuse from most customers if they were seen to be taking GT-Rs out for a spin to 'make sure the oil isn't overfilled' :p
That was my call too, we are not talking 1/2 litre or more, we are at egg cup levels here.

Good to see you mate and thanks again for the coffee, not that you had anything to do with it :D

Managed to pull another engine management light and limp mode special again on the way home so back to Mercedes for a check. Turned off and on and all back to normal so feels once again a sensor around emissions when I run it to the red line.

One of those gentle pull always, bit more throttle, oh still there, let’s open the taps fully. Surprised how much it pulled. I know it’s faster but thought it would be closer. I love ermmmm runways.

Not in a straight line, but when you throw in some bends it’ll be a different story I imagine.
It’s a rapid car in them too but road surface needs to be decent. Less you forget this thing laps the Ring quicker that a 991.1 GT3 so M4 gonna die there too. This old mans pace is probably a limiting factor these days mind :D

Really like the seats in the car, pretty much the best seats I’ve had in a car. All shapes and sizes find them comfortable and even my 82 year old mum was happy after a 4 hour trip in them, though getting her out wasn’t a work of moments
