So the team in 5th in the league has sacked their manager, the team in 6th in the league has now sacked their manager....the team in 4th next? :)

Wonder if Mainoo has recovered from his injury this morning.
Honestly I'm quite shocked. I liked Ruben. He spoke the truth and was sacked for it. He's not blameless of course and ultimately his stubbornness has lost him his job - he has stuck to his principles and has shown integrity. Unfortunately that counts for nothing in this club and football in general.

This is not a good look for Ineos, backed Ten Hag, sacked him ten minutes later. Brought in Dan Ashworth, sacked him. Brought in Amorim midway through season and caused the poorest finish ever. Then left him with Casemiro in midfield and a bench full of lads who have barely got a pube between them. Ineos out.

sigh

Wow, didn't see that coming, thought we were getting to the point where we were going to see through a process.

I thought we were starting to see some progress, kinda derailed by the paper-thin depth of our squad, which isn't his fault.

Not a fan of this decision tbh.....but the success of it is going to be down to who replaces him.

So find ourselves in the same position.. ideally you don't rush into finding a new manager but then you're just wasting time if you wait until summer.

I'm sure they would have had replacements lined up though

Howe at the ready?

Maresca is available
He isnt daft enough to jump into utds mess after he feels Chelsea board/structure intervenes. I’d be surprised if you got him.

Amorim wasn’t ever good enough for Utd results in first year alone proved that so Utd had to get rid, surprised it took so long mind

He could have been sacked well before this. We just all so desperately wanted this to work that we overlooked all the massive problems and clung desperately to the slight glimmers of hope we saw every 3-4 games.

Will be interesting to see how we set up now though because we are very top heavy. I imagine Mainoo will be back on the menu now but he probably needs to be part of a midfield 3.

Amorgone?

Felt like the comments at the press conference were designed to either strengthen his position (lol no chance) or to effectively dare the club to sack him. I really wanted Ruben to succeed and thought he would. The recruitment of more sensible players would, I hoped, mean that the manager/head caoch would at least/last have a start of a decent team to use. However Ruben's insistence of using 3 at the back wasn't really going to work. Would Utd really sign players to suit that whole formation when it would massively change the whole squad?

There were rumours that chatter from Utd caused Chelsea to sack Maresca. Admittedly he's more likely to succeed Pep at City but interesting timing for him to be out of a job and Utd needing someone. Will the club go for someone with PL experience or go for a foreign coach?!
yikes, in retrospect, those last couple of amorim post match interviews were very un-amorim like.

Sunday...amorim says he is the manager for another 18 months....monday...he's gone.

So the question is, what managers are available, or do we limp on with fletcher for the rest of the season or do a Ralf rangnick.
Can we get Carrick back? Least he had a few games before Ralf and seemed to do OK. Don't think Fletcher has the experience to lead the team for more than a few games. Fletcher interim head coach until a more permanent interim head coach/manager for the season?

Amazing! Now:

Casemiro will find his legs
Sesko will start scoring
Mount will stop getting injured
Zirkzee will become Pele
Mainoo will level up (or down) to Scholes
Dalot will change his name to Dennis... Irwin
Mazroui is now Zidane
Dorgu will become Dorgberto Carlos
Ugarte = Manuel Keane

Let's gooooooo!

Darren Fletcher in for now

Lol
On Instagram, Alejandro Garnacho has ‘liked’ the departure of Ruben Amorim from Manchester United.

Rashford back ?
