An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Right, slight cockup on my part...

Simply put, there's a door I need to get through in order to complete a quest, but the key is stuck on the other side (don't ask what happened). I just need to get through the door, is there a way of teleporting into that cell?

edit: fixed now

Lol, I went into a shop and starting swinging my sword at all his gear, messed the place up proper. Wentover to the counter and all I got was a "Well met" :P

but i decided to take a wander around the castle and found a gem worth 1000g, i took it as payment for the inconveniance they caused me :D

Going to rain on your parade here, but the grand master happens to be whatever level you are at the time. Hes no more difficult when you are level 1 than if you waited till you were level 20.

Whole game is exactly the same. Bit of a show stopper... Quite litterally, as its going to take a month or two until the modders can fix it.

Least ittle solve all the 'which should I buy, the PC or Xbox version?' qustions. Though after the tragedy that was unfixable bugy Xbox Morrowind, was this ever in question?

Stats wise he'll scale relative to your level, yes. But, as you level you get more abilities...etc, which will make him easier.

Not sure why you're bringing up this apparent 'issue' anyway, I never said anything about my level in that particular post. When I mentioned achieving 'Warrior' status, I was referring to my arena rank. You gain rank by fighting opponents in the arena. Each opponent increases in difficulty as you progress.

I'd hardly call the level scale feature 'show stopping'. For a start it allows you to experience the entirety of the game content whilst keeping it a challenge.

Also the people you fight as your arena level goes up won't just increase in level but also use better equipment, I have managed to get to gladiator status and my opponents are starting to use some rather nice gear. It's a shame you can't loot in the arena :(

I keep running out of arrows, especially when I go to oblivion. I found a good sneaky way to get free arrows, go to the arena and theres a guy there shooting arrows into a test target, just snatch them as hes firing. Unfortunatly I think hes now bugged for me, one time when I went in his bow was on the ground and he wasnt firing. Now its disappeared totally and he just stands there looking at the target, does anyone else know any places with people shooting arrows?

I'm not sure I like this "scaling monsters to your level". Its great in the fact that you can go anywhere at any time, but it doesn't give you any feeling of getting more powerful.

Its like in Baldurs Gate - sure, at the start there are areas you cant go because your too weak, so it restricts the freedom - but for me, there's nothing like being level 20, and going back to a level 5 area and just owning the whole place with your new-found strength/power :)

Whereas in Oblivion - you go back to an old area and they're just as easy/hard as they were 10 levels ago :(

Funnily enough you say that.... The NPC's learn i think, which i didn't know. You know the jewellery store in the market in the big castle place?? I have robbed that shop at least twice now. I went in a third time before, all the glass cases were empty, apart from the clothes left in them, i thought it may have not reset itself, and put all the jewels back in the cases. But it turns out he hid them all in the long shelf, with five locks on it, each lock was on very hard difficulty. Either way i still picked and took it all XD

It's such a huge game though, if it didn't scale according to your level you'd find that half the game content would become pointless because you've totally outlevelled it questing somewhere else.

You ARE getting more powerful. You gain more skills, you get access to more powerful armor. You can utilise these advantages far better than any AI controlled enemy can.

There was one particular fighter in the arena that I couldn't beat. So I levelled up a little, gained some more skills and bought myself a nice new sword. I then returned to the arena and owned him. I couldn't do that before.

Anyone know how to get into that door? In that abandoned house?

ask in the spoilers thread mate (might be on the consoles forum) as theres a healthy discussion there as to helping each other out and the mods probably wanna keep this thread spoiler free if possible

I think I know the one you mean. That's the entrance to the Dark Brotherhood headquarters. You'll need to be a member to get in.

It's already posted in this thread.

I think tomorrow I'm going to start a new topic, and just put in it the instructions for joinging the different guilds and tips for the first few quests... It'll be sure to mark it as a spoiler.

*spoilers*

To join I read one of the wanted posters and then talked to one of the beggars in Imperial City. You need to get their disposition high enough for them to tell you. They will give you information on where to go and you have to do a quest to get in.

where are these wanted posters?

and yes i know its been mentioned before on how to get in but the method posted a few pages ago did not work for me, i only found 2 beggars in that town and neither even had the subject mentioned.

Does anyone know of a way of slowing down ingame time? It's kind of annoying to walk from one side of the a town to another and find that several hours have passed in the process :/
