What was it that made you change your mind?

I posted it a little further back in the thread, it can now be used as a secondary monitor with multitouch input over Wi-Fi.

Sure, it's probably not much good for video but in Photoshop? Awesome.

I'd probably use it for other things if I had one, but when it was announced I saw nothing particularly useful about it.

Edit: Didn't say I was definitely buying one. Just that I'm a little tempted now.

What do you think about lack of multi-tasking? That's one of the key features that would probably make me not get one...
What most people who criticise the device are failing to account for is that OS 4.0 is just around the corner...

Seems engadget arent impressed with the dual screen function...

We have just looked evil in the face. Its name is iDisplay. Based on an incredibly promising concept, iDisplay purported to extend our Mac's display onto an iPad or an iPhone, over the magic of WiFi. In reality it threatened to destroy our very lives. The application, after installation, tells your computer that it has two displays running concurrently (even when the program isn't open), and limits your main display to a lower resolution -- either with blurry pixels or letterboxing (the latter is shown above). This of course eliminates the purpose of extending a display almost entirely. Add in the fact that we couldn't even get the iDisplay application to open on our Snow Leopard Mac, and we can't imagine recommending this $4.99 combo to a single soul on earth. Even the uninstall process was harrowing. Please, for the sake of your children and your children's children, stay away from this app.

Update: Okay, so we've tried it on a few more machines, and while we managed to make it work in a more reliable way without black bars -- hint, turn off mirroring! -- it's still not particularly usable. Refresh rates are incredibly low, the touch interaction is laggy, and the server app on the desktop is pretty crashy. We really want to love you, iDisplay -- let's work this out, okay?

I'm lucky enough to be on holiday in Florida at the moment so I spent 2 hours outside an apple store this morning....

Now I'm sat in the hotel lobby on a sofa typing this post, a perfect task for the iPad. Unfortunately the camera connection kit isn't out yet, which is the other perfect holiday task.
:D

All the hype surrounding this today and watching the hundreds of unpacking videos and pictures is giving me a severe case of gadget-itis even though I wasn't convinced at the keynote. I dunno if £400 odd can be justified on a what to me will be a deluxe internet browser for when i'm in bed or on the bog etc. :D

I have no doubt that I will own one at some point this year though. :p

I have to say I'm a lot more tempted than I thought I would be. If it had an integrated webcam and USB/SDRAM slot i'd be first in the queue.

As it is I expect those features to be added with V2 and I just can't bring myself to spend £500 when I know there's a fair chance the iPad I wanted it to be will be released alongside refined OS and a comprehensive App library in ~12months.

Maybe I'll cave in when someone waves a real one in front of me.

Why are people clinging to a £500 price tag? Nothing has been announced yet.

Would maybe be worth a look if it supported flash, but it doesnt and that for me is a massive deal breaker! Plus you look like a right **** when using one

It has a positionable case for different viewing angles.
It has Bluetooth for a wireless keyboard.
It has an adaptor for USB camera or SD card.
It has an adaptor for charging off the mains or the pc.
It has a HD adaptor for connection to a Plasma TV.
