An old friend asking to borrow money

Just lend me the money ffs it’s only 42 quid and I’ll pay it back. Honest I need to get a laptop fixed…and some new slabs.

What a load of rubbish or you've missed a bit out.
So if my kids asked to borrow money and I didn't see them again it was money well spent? I think not.

You missed out "if you lend money to someone, never get the money back and never see that person ever again, it was money well spent"
It also doesn't take into account how much money, £100 would upset me enough to track them down.

You're not supposed to take this absolutely literally...

Wow you'd throw money away, what about if it was £1000s?

If you or I gave £1000s to someone and never seen them again (and the money to be specific ;)) then more fool you or I, an extreme poor judgment of character. Still well spent as you won't see them again to fleece you for some more money with whatever BS that worked the first time.

In my experience lending money to a friend is like losing a friend.

There is always an excuse until you stop asking for it back, but by that time the trust has gone.
