Andor (Star Wars)

The ridiculousness of Andor getting captured so easily and imprisoned. For someone who was on the run, past fighting experience etc, all he had to was sit down at Cleveley beach with everyone else and he would have been ignored - but he chose to run with everyone else and so stuck out like a sore thumb. Very poor writing and plot device.

I think the idea of that was that all it takes is for some power hungry nobody in the empire to decide you are up to no good for you to end up with a death sentence. There was no reason to think he would end up with years in a penal colony. That was kind of the point of it. He was in a rush and that was enough to raise suspicion and land him a death sentence.

ISB bird is scary but is giving me the horn in a weird way ;)

Clearly like a dominant woman!

What happened to Serkis? "I can't swim" - Andor was quick to forget about him.

Either he stayed up there or he jumped and probably drowned. I doubt Andor was going to tread water for half an hour to find out. Who knows. They just left it at that. They weren't best mates at the end of the day. He was just someone that Andor had to persuade to be on his side for the whole plan to work. I'm sure he felt for him but probably not to the point he would risk his life for him.

Disappointed no Force or at least a cameo from someone we know, even the emperor himself would have been good to see.

And that final end credit!

Great, great, great series.

Meh, that was one of the best things about it. No pandering for the most part. It seems very hard for shows to tread the line between pandering and producing a good show and just going completely down the "look, its that thing you remember and like, isn't that amazing" and completely forgetting to make a good show around it.

Don't they have facial recognition in star wars? The moment he was arrested, they would have ran a check? Then in the prison, no checks. When he decides to come back, why is he not in good disguise, or even wearing a hat?

Also why doesn't the senator's cousin and access (forgot his name) help her with the missing credits when they just stole 80 million credits?

I don't think so. Star Wars has very funny technology, you see very little of the computional wizardry we take for granted but amazing and fantastical technology in other ways.

Technology in star wars is ridiculous. Its basically uber high tech but with interfaces from the 70s. Big chunky buttons, 24px displays etc. You kind of just have to go with it.

Been enjoying working through this. It's very good, mainly because it's not really Star Wars at all. Same universe of course, but the tone, pacing and atmosphere is completely different, and all the better for it.

I got bored of the Mandalorian quite quickly as it was just MORE Star Wars....Andor offers something different, for people that like characters development and relationships, over pew pew and fanservice.

It is fairly consistent with the tone and atmosphere (minus some factors) of early Star Wars though the pacing is very different.

It feels more than the equipment needs to be rugged and functional but with little spent on design. Industrial if you like.

It's really not, I think people forget they were children when Star Wars came out, the original films are very much light family/kids entertainment, same as the later movies. Andor is very different, unless in later episodes it takes a sharp turn I'm going to be surprised by a musical number with a forest full of dancing teddy bears again.

There is the more light hearted side of the original Star Wars hence my comment of minus some factors, but the background and imperials, etc. very much has the tone of Andor in early Star Wars. There is a couple of really good videos on this by Spaceman and Thomas Flight on YouTube.

I don't really understand why Mando is so widely liked, I thought it had major problems and I hated the fan service bull that tainted it. Boba Fett however was far worse for that; it was practically inverted by the degree of referentiality.

But that, IMO, is far more not Star Wars than Andor.

Andor is an evolution of Star Wars, yes, but it's an evolution that is true to the ideas, themes, and even tone of the original movies. It is Star Wars' Dark Knight. Boba Fett and parts of the other series are stitched together from the skin of Star Wars, so incredibly dependent on giving fans references that they've completely forgotten what the whole thing was originally about. Shallow simulacra and nothing more.

Andor shows the dictatorial side of the Empire, free of Space Magic, Space Wizards and Laser swords. It's highly unlikely that anyone in the show has even seen a Jedi, perhaps short of Mon Mothma and some of the other minor Senate characters. It actually makes the show better, I just hope they don't succumb to temptation and start introducing Vader or any other Sith/Jedi. IMO it should remain Force and Force-wielder free.

You clearly haven't got to the musical episode yet. You are going to love it!

I wouldn't mind some small amount of Jedi/Sith in it but not in any large capacity. The temptation would always be there to have a big lightsaber battle.
