Andor (Star Wars)

I've been quietly getting on and watching this in my WFH lunch breaks. Finished it last week and wow. Seriously good. Star Wars for adults, certainly. Performances were superb throughout, the best I've ever seen in the SW universe. The Mandalorian was almost there, but finally with this they succeeded in creating a properly gritty SW world. An epic spy thriller, with enough action for those playing on their phones (:p ). The way it ties in to Rogue One throughout is brilliant, can't wait for season two.

The lady senator has been funding the rebellion with her money for ages. The issue is the Imperials have introduced new laws and checks and are busy checking peoples financial transactions. She has managed to fill all the gaps and account for a lot of the money but there is one massive gaping hole of millions of credits. If that is still there when they get to look at her accounts then she is done for. Hence she has to sell her daughter in an arranged marriage to the gangsters son in order for the gangster to fill the missing credits in her books. It proves she will do anything needed for the Rebellion
Looks my reply didn't get posted properly

=Didn't she outright reject the gangster? How did he just turn up at the end? Also why doesn't her cousin and access (forgot his name) help her with the missing credits when they just stole 80 million credits?

I also think her daughter was getting lost in the ways of the Empire, you saw her enjoying that what looked like a Sunday school session (don't know what it's called) so she just thought **** it, marry her off.

Maybe you should re-watch the episodes because clearly you weren't paying much attention in your first viewings.

Have watched this over the last couple days as down with a touch of the lurg.

This series was fantastic, its like adult starwars.

Gives “A new hope” that Disney are finally
Onto a winner.

I was put off Andor from the initial posts in this thread, a colleague advised me to watch it and so over the course of the week i just finished the final episode tonight! I didn't find it boring at all, it was a build up and was interesting to see character backgrounds and development - so good.

WRT the Senators cash, my undertstanding was that there were 2 problems:

  • She was unable to account for 400k credits - this was tied up by her conversation in the car where she lied and accused her husband of embezzling cash for gambling - knowing the ISB agent would report this later.

  • She had no way of funneling/laundering her wealth to the rebellion - this is where the gangster offered to launder for her in exchange for the 'invitation' to her daughter.

Anyway.....

The ridiculousness of Andor getting captured so easily and imprisoned. For someone who was on the run, past fighting experience etc, all he had to was sit down at Cleveley beach with everyone else and he would have been ignored - but he chose to run with everyone else and so stuck out like a sore thumb. Very poor writing and plot device.

Moxy dying :( (anyone old enough to get that reference?)

Luthens ship in ep 11 was very cool - that space battle!

ISB bird is scary but is giving me the horn in a weird way ;)

What happened to Serkis? "I can't swim" - Andor was quick to forget about him.

Disappointed no Force or at least a cameo from someone we know, even the emperor himself would have been good to see.

And that final end credit!

Great, great, great series.

I suspect we’re supposed to forget about him until a third of the way through season 2 :D

Thus far, and much to its credit, Andor has avoided engaging with that kind of cheap and lazy fan service. I'd be quite disappointed if he does turn up again, although it would depend on how it was handled.

I got the distinct impression that almost everyone who escaped died. There's almost no way off that planet, they're dumped into the ocean a kilometre from dry land, and the imperials are hunting them afterwards. As for Andor, I don't see he had much to do but swim to safety, he lost Kino Loy in the chaos at the top and wouldn't have had a chance to find him again.

Finished this yesterday. Echo the positive reviews in the thread. I liked it, a lot. Pacing, character development, multiple threads, intrigue and heck, spaceships!
Thought Mando was decent, Boba Fett ok, even quite enjoyed Obi Wan but this beats them all.

It is slow and beats me that he doesn't bother disguising himself when he is on the wanted list. Heck no facial ID when arrested. Prison scenes deffo dragged on imo. And how did that guy fail covering that hologram message on the last episode!?

Just finished with the old folks over Xmas, best star war series yet.

Really enjoyed it more of the same please. (Lasers that actually blow stuff up and hit things) unlike like bobba fett, mando etc.

9/10

It’s not really, peoples views can be summed up as:

Those that just want to see the pew pews in every scene thought it was boring.

Those that wanted a good well written story with actual character development and was true to the original Star Wars universe really liked it.
Yup, this. :D
