Andor (Star Wars)

I had stayed away from this series as a result being thoroughly exhausted by Star Wars and so underwhelmed by the likes of the Boba Fett and Obi Wan series. So engaging with it was a complete punt.

The initial episodes are quite narrow in scope and slow. The middle section is more engaging. Then, the later episodes flowered into something quite brilliant and beyond what I thought Star Wars was capable of.

There was actual intrigue and drama!!!

Most interesting plot lines for me:

- the empire management trying to pincer in on Andor and the rebellion
- the prison and escape from it
- the mistreated empire employee just wanting to do his best for the empire
- politician trying to extract money

… all whilst Andor himself is just trying to survive, yet it’s all politically blowing up unknown to him as if he is some major rebellion player - he’s not. In fact, the rebellion want him dead!

I think the first few episodes would be a 6 to 7 out of 10, going to 9 to 10 out of 10 in some of the penultimate episodes.

I’d say overall, totally worth it. Really impressed with what they did and surpassing the Mandalorian as the best Star Wars show.

More of this sort of thing, please!

Generally excellent overall. 9/10.

A sad testament to what Disney could have done with SW.
I'll keep saying it. Star Wars without space wizards, space magic and laser swords is more grounded than with them. Also it's a period in the time line that not a lot is written about already so it gave, and gives them a little bit more leeway in their writing and fewer 'walls' that they come up against, be that because of existing canon or planned series/movies.

Same here, however thought I'd better watch it before Ashoka comes out - and glad I did.

I think this was undersold. 'Prequel to Rogue One' was all I'd have needed to have got onboard much sooner.

Looking forward to season 2.

I’ve been watching this show over the past week and I’ve been really enjoying it. The story is really interesting. The dialogue and characters are great. Seeing how the consequences of Andors actions ripple out to the wider universe.

Screw the show writers Kino best be on a beach sipping some drinks for season 2.

yeah, there was this a week ago too.
Why is it being demolished.... sorry, DEMOLISHED?
Is it even being demolished? Looks more like it's under construction... Not that I don't trust or like the DM, I'm just finding them somewhat lacking in any relevant details:

Abandoned: Parts of the set appeared to be heading for the scrap heap
Appeared... so no confirmation, then?

Crew: The busy workmen could be seen wearing high visibility jackets for safety
Oh, I seeeeeeeee...... I thought they were wearing orange because they were escaped cons, or something. I'm so glad the DM was able to reveal the hidden meaning behind this otherworldly attire.
Good thing they can be seen then, eh!

Space age: One large fantasy shape ship was left abandoned
That's a spaceship??!!
Blimey, and here was me thinking it was obviously a habitation unit, given they look like that in all the other sci-fi things...

Originally they planned 5, but halfway through the 1st they realised they had no chance as the scope was to much so shortened it down to 2

This initially looks like its written by the same team as Season 1 so I'm very interested, but as I have zero trust in LF then if it turns out to be nothing more than a bait & switch for another writing team, I'll not bother - but I really do hope its the same team!
