Andor (Star Wars)

I watched the first ep last night and enjoyed it. It was darker and grittier than most of Star Wars and i liked it.

I am not sure if this was taken from a film script but Obi Wan certainly was.

I was thinking this must have been filmed in the UK as most of the actors are brits, pretty sure one of them was from GOT. It appears it was primarily filmed in an abandoned quarry near Buckinghamshire similar to how Obi Wan was filmed in a quarry in Derbyshire.

Feels like the first act of a film script tbh split in 3.
I bet this was the case.
There are people saying they have seen ep4 and it takes a turn.....

Wonder if it was spawned off the original script for Rogue One - was said to be darker more a war documentary and cover more of the backstory of the characters before it was reshot.

The end of episode 3 is very brooding and reminds me a lot of what was talked about as the feel of Rogue One originally.

So I gather it sucks then? So glad I haven't subscribed to Disney+...

Disney seem to be screwing up everything atm, but they're not alone I guess. Seems to be a trend that started around 10-15 years ago. There are thankfully a few exceptions here and there but movies and series are mostly trash now, and it's getting progressively worse...

Wouldn't say it sucks - but its a slow build in the first 3 episodes which will depend hugely on episode 4 whether it is overall a success or not. One of the best I think so far in terms of the aesthetic.

I quite liked the 3 episodes. I think from about 20 minutes in with the lazy 'police chief' and how he described the situation, I figured I was going to enjoy this.

Plus it has Stellan Skarsgard and just having that name makes something better immediately.

Sounds enthralling, so basically after 3 episodes, it might be better... Guessing nothing much happened in first episode, so they panicked and released the first three. lol

You read the last three pages? Most people seem to think its the best spin off yet?

I wouldn't say it was boring, but it needs a big pay off to make it worth the first 3 episodes.

The first 3 episodes are slow but I wouldn't say boring. Though it ultimately depends on your preferences. All of my favourite TV shows (The Wire, Sopranos and now recently Chernobyl) have all been extraordinarily slow but I do love a slow burner

Not every TV show is going to be a '24' with something big happening every few minutes. I thought the tone and pacing of the episodes was good. My only complaint(?) is that I don't really see the point in the series. We know what happens to Andor in the long run and I'm not sure, yet, what makes his character so interesting other than the planet he came from.

Can't yet judge it against the Mandalorian but it is much better than BoBF and Obi Wan that it feels insulting to talk about them in the same breath

To be fair, we new that happened at the end of Rogue one, that didn’t stop it being the best star wars film post Return of the Jedi.
Yeah you're not wrong. I actually only watched all of the films this year for the first time and it confirmed my opinion that Rogue One was my favourite film out of all of them.

I'm nothing more than a casual viewer of Star Wars I don't have any emotional attachment to it so my opinion may be very different from die hard, life long, fans

it was only £2 this month, only reason I'm currently subbed.

This series has piqued my interest since Rogue One is the only modern Star Wars film in recent times, that holds a candle to the original trilogy.

Watched 7 but that put me off 8 and 9. Solo, Fett, Baby Yoda and all that, takes the mystique away etc. Plus Yoda to me is always a puppet!

The visuals are on movie level in my opinion, with the odd exception. Definitely better than the other shows so far in that respect.

Saw episode 3 now. A lot more action but still feels quite generic story wise. The flashback story is already boring me.

9 episodes to go, hopefully the story (and maybe pace) will pick up.
