Andor (Star Wars)

Enjoyed the 'origin' 3 part movie. Definitely more invested in Andor now than I was compared to R1.

Excited for episode 4.

This doesn't captivate quite as quickly as the Mandalorian but everything feels like it has much more depth and quality than Obi-Wan.

Overall Andor is slow but really enjoyable. It is considerably better than the slew of other recent big name series on Disney Plus and other streaming services.

Yes this has depth and character which I’m enjoying. I just hope the story becomes interesting.

One of the things i noticed was the grittiness of a SW movie that i have only ever seen in Rogue One.

Except for Rogue One and Star Wars Cantina Scene (But it was sanitised) I have never seen any supposed protagonist kill someone in cold blood. Another thing i noticed that as far as i can recall there has never been any direct reference to any characters having sex.

No pleasing anyone here anymore.

I thought it's been brilliant so far.

I’ve liked the first two episodes, yes they’re a little slow. It’s great to have different planets that aren’t Tatooine, Coruscant, Hoth or Naboo or derivatives of those planets. Production quality is also excellent.

Also, I fancied Adria Arjona before any of you knew who she was. :p

Caught up and episode 3 started moving things forward with decent amount of action compared to the first 2 episodes. Seeing the guards get wiped out like that reminded me of people who want to play dress up with guns and when it 'gets real' they have no clue. I guess with all the Trump talk before this aired it hits pretty close to Jan 6th etc

Did they ever explain why her lover snitched on him, I hope it wasn't as simple as she thought he was 'cheating' on him? Not that it matters now I suppose.

Critical Drinker seems to like it, maybe to the surprise of many here, as he thinks is "competently made" - hardly a ringing endorsement TBF that simply being competent is worth praising nowadays but thats where we are apparently :D

For every fairly positive-ish review I see I also see things like -

I guess with all the Trump talk before this aired it hits pretty close to Jan 6th etc

Which pulls me away again as I absolutely do not want "in real life" divisive politics mixed in with my "space wizards shooting laser beams" fantasy world TV Show. I think I'll wait until it's all out and see how it stacks up as a full series before making a final decision on whether to watch it or not.

Just watched and was amazed with the amount of British actors in this admittedly most Z listers. Overall this was a lot more gritter than the other fan serviced Disney adaptations and there has not been a face palm moment yet.

Just watched the 3rd episode, I have to say, as far as star wars goes, this is well up there.

Nice to see some grit and emotion back in the IP and a story that is not just some villain of the week.

Hopefully they follow through with the rest of the season but so far so good.

P.s. did anyone else spot the Karcher patio cleaner just after the shuttle landed and the enforcers unloaded? :p

I watched the first ep last night and enjoyed it. It was darker and grittier than most of Star Wars and i liked it.

I am not sure if this was taken from a film script but Obi Wan certainly was.

I was thinking this must have been filmed in the UK as most of the actors are brits, pretty sure one of them was from GOT. It appears it was primarily filmed in an abandoned quarry near Buckinghamshire similar to how Obi Wan was filmed in a quarry in Derbyshire.

Some of the scenes were filmed in Cleveleys (near Blackpool). Was on a job near there when it was going on, all the promenade was closed.

I have enjoyed this so far. It’s a little slow, I hope the pace picks up a bit soon. It’s good to see how the average people live and a grittier side of the Star Wars universe.

Finished episode 3 last night and really enjoyed it, on a par with Mandalorian but for different reasons. Mando captured the old SW spirit and gained my interest that way, this however shows a...dare I say 'more adult' angle of the SW universe and is a bit more down to earth. I look forward to future episodes.

Watched first two episodes last night…. Sort of struggled with it at the time but now thinking back on it cant wait for ep3! Guess it wasn’t what i was expecting but remained interesting enough (Rian Johnson should take note…)
