Android O

Surprised no one is talking about the background app limits that have appeared in Android 8. I'll have to dig into it further, but on the face of it it looks very similar to iOS background app limits, which have been lambasted over the years for not allowing the iPhone to 'multitask'.

Personally I think it's a big plus that Google will start properly controlling background apps in this way as it should result in better battery life and a better user experience for users.

Well I hope it isn't the final version as bluetooth is STILL a mess. Not working in the car again. It did start working once after I first paired it, but same doing the same old tricks.

Confusingly, any and all mentions of beta have been removed. Confused as to what's going on.

What I will say, is that if spotify doesn't start working soon I'm switching back to a phone that works properly.....and of all my testing it leaves me a single choice of an iphone (which I hate).

Suppose I could buy an ipod touch

:edit:

ok, so it looks like it is final?

My version is opr6.170623.012 which is the same found here

I can't say I've noticed as I've always known my pixel to behave this way, it's very aggressive in controlling background apps and I like it. I've never experienced slowdown or stutter

Was gonna post in there but it says "only issues after getting the Oreo update" and I've had the same issues on Nougat. Really seems like it might be a hardware issue.

I'm starting to think that way now to be honest. Although my issues have been much worse with 8, 7 wasn't great.

Samsung s8 or oneplus 5?

In Oreo isn't there support for many different types of bluetooth codecs?

Try a different one.

Yup... Annoyingly I got rid of my Pixel XL for the S8+. I'd be blitzing the Oreo right now if I hadn't. :(

Its a never ending cycle really.. Every one jumps on the latest and greatest Sammy flagship. Then when the next major Android version is announced suddenly there is regret buying the S8. This again will be the case for the S9 and Android P and so on and so forth..

Luckily I still have my Pixel XL with me so I get the best of Android has to offer

I just don't understand why Samsung aren't more on it. They have around 20,000 software engineers worldwide. Would it really be that resource intensive to have a few of those engineers whip up a ROM for each new release?
