Tbh, buy the game if you support/like it and then crack it... The 3 install limit is retarded, they must have been out of their minds. Luckily well known groups release cracks and make everyone happy :).

Love the game so far, got to the ''small city stage'', it's very hard now to get more stuff though, need to start up some kind of glass production ( for the church), some kind of bread production ( need to land on a 4th island as I can't produce wheat on my own one :() and set up beer production.

400 ish in the green on average + a bit from sales of spare goods. Got 520 ish patricians, 750 ish citizens, 150 ish peasants and 400 ish nomads in total across my islands ( though I only build housing on 2, one nomad island and one European'' one.)

Also had my first beggars a while ago, sent em off and got warned they might return as bandits ( grrr) so built 2 harbor towers hopefully that will do for now.

Anyone know if this game is dx9 or dx10? Because Xfire ingame doesn't work and it usually works on all dx9 games but not dx10.

Same as you Snowdog, I tend to getto that stage fairly easy, but once I start building wheat/mills/bakeries, herb/breweries, quartz mines, potash, glassworks my maintenance costs go through the roof. So I build more houses and get back to positive cash flow, but then my population is greater and my basic resources start running out, fish, spices, linen clothes etc. so I need to build more of those, possibly on a new island, maintenance costs go up again and I start losing money, so more houses etc. etc.

I'm gradually getting the hang of it though, even though I keep restarting.

I just plant a whole new residential zone, like 1 new market/chapel/tavern & 20 new houses, in 1 go if I'm short of cash :p.

Or well, I did that once, I have now 2 major residential zones zones, so far 2 fishery's + 1 from another island without inhabitants, 2 cider farms, 4 hemp plants, and 2 weavers are just enough to provide everything to let everyone I have be citizens ( the ones that aren't ( that are still peasants) are ready to upgrade but waiting for more stone/tools/wood or just out of range of the chapel...

Just leaving a few citizens is good for cash making :).

Oh, and I have moderate tax on the nomads because I really can't be bothered to supply them with goodies too :p. Just milk, basic food ( forgot name) and simply raise taxes on them :p.

what i tend to do, is tax the population so they are ok, but wont move out, then i prepare the next part of the infracture so they can promote them selves, when im ready for them to upgrade i lower the taxes

was bored earlier so started a new game to try some different stuff.

built my main city on a southern island now ... so I have both normal people and the nomad settlement on the same island now
this does mean I have to ship wood and many other things though

I set the pirate things to "strong" when making the game as well; so they keep destroying my trade ships constantly now - grrrr.

Well just got coffee and pearls on the go and what was a -90 is now a +540 with trade sales of about 5k . Coffee sells very well (450ish per ton ) as does pearls but not cheap to setup as maintenance costs are very high .

Finally got paper production set up a trade route for indigo so hopefully have books soon etc .

Try and set up yer battleships with a repair guy . Saves a lot of hassle bringing them back to port for repairs all the time . I have + speed + medium repair on mine and i never have issues with corsairs . But if you are doing ok for cash its worth having a trade agreement with them as some of his items are very handy (can capture enemy boats etc)

As others have said it just makes hours disapear but dont be tempted to leave it running and go do summit else as things can change very quickly (thank god for auto save )

Still haveing issues where some people wont upgrade though and cant see a reason why . May bulldoze the house and rejigg the area see if that fixes it but a real pain .

Persil

Persil only a certain number of houses can upgrade to the next level; if you open up one of the houses and hover over the top left number it will say "0/0 xxxx available" - you get extra ascension rights from nomads upgrading, and from some of those other buildings you find on islands

Ah ok thanks for that .. in that case i will delete them as there not earning me anything really so they can begone :)

I dunno as soon as you delete housing your income will drop, but I'd be interested in this, if you could report back on what happens if you delete your lower class housing that would be great, I too hate having citizen dwellings on my main island.

If I build lots of peasant houses on another island will that offer me more ascension on my main island? so I could have an island full of nobles and other islands of differing classes?
