Do you think it's a bug that patricians require church AND chapel, when nobelmen just require a church? I can't think of any reason for this.

I'm in abit of a dilemma.

At first I've being doing allot of fast forwarding in game so I don't have to wait ages, and the other players have advanced faster than me, now I need to get indigo and other things of which I cant because they are on other players islands, I don't have to have to keep buying it off them but I need it all to advance the nomads further, but I cant cause all the other islands are took up.

Would the best way to be to concentrate on my civilians and get em up to patricians and build an army up to take down some of the other people in the game then concentrate on nomads?

i'd probably start again :D

i land grab early, get some islands early doors by buying the materials off the ai and just claiming the islands - you don't have to build on them ofc. then when you meet the orient guy you get a free ship with more materials on it. i guess you could attack eventually but it would be expensive and take aaaagggeeess.

I don't wanna start again cause I just did with this one!!! :(, maybe it would not be naughty to cheat in this situation??? :p

Claiming islands doesn't work, I was just playing a game where the ***** AI was trying to build market buildings on all of my islands. You have no choice but to take it back by force (i.e. declaring war), which kinda sucks because I was trying to play a diplomatic game. I think there should be an option to kindly ask for it back or something, as the greedy AI will just gobble up all available land by spamming it with market buildings.

Don't think so. I think it's just the transition between them, from chapel to church. And, since you won't have churches as soon as you hit patrician, the extra 30% from the chapel stops the patricians going mental and setting fire to things :D

Also, I have no idea how you're supposed to get the Court Architecture award. I think it's 10,000 noblemen, or 10,000 inhabitants, by only owning TWO islands. That means you have to be really lucky to get HUGE islands with lots of resources. I can't see how it's possible really, because I've never come across an island with every orient or every occidental resource needed to get to noblemen, never mind having both islands in one game.

Yeah, I claimed a load of land at the start of my game, and after struggling to finally get back into positive income, the other AI came and built on some of the islands. Fortunately, they didn't use up much, I claimed about 10 islands, mainly the largest ones, and the smaller ones with rare resources. Since the AI had no use of the rare resources at the start, they didn't use those islands, which leaves them for me later, and they barely used up much land of the larger islands, so I just ignored them.

No, it's got to go on a river at a shallow spot. That island doesn't have one. Here's where they need to go. When you place it, it should look like this.

(nicked someone's picture from earlier :P)

Yeah that would make sense except peasant and citizen needs can be satisfied by just a church, then when you hit patrician they randomly want a chapel again. Tis weird imo

been following this thread and this game looks interesting

from the screen shots it reminds of that old game Zeus: Master of Olympus

is it anything like that?

loved that game might get this if its similar

Is there actually any point in using stone roads compared to dirt roads for residential areas ?

Market carts move faster, improving efficiency. Also, fire-fighters act quicker on stone roads... ;)

Does anyone else suffer from continual restarting of the continuous campaign? I just can't get my city layout to plan... :o:D

Yeah Ive packed in two continuous games now, they were both at noblemen level as well. I just seem to get bored. Ive started a new one now on a medium sized map with one easy opponent, Im going to use it to test out combat.

I left big open areas next to my market places for future buildings like firestations and carpenters. On my previous games I didnt build them very much, only when my buildings got really bad. But in this one Im going to make them from the start, everyone will be covered by carpenters, firestations and surgeries.

I like making my citys semi-grid based, mostly lines or blocks of houses but then in some areas it gets a bit random. I wouldnt mind leaving some space for a big grand town centre this time as well.
