I had nomads earlier on, tried to settle them on the desert land so I could grow some dates and spices. That plan failed as no sooner I build market place and a few houses they went mentally irregular (rocky 3) and started torchin each other houses.

Switched it off at that point...

when you take a gift to the orient bloke he gives you a boat with loads of materials on, use that to settle the southern islands as it gives you a bit of leeway before they start killing each other due to starvation. they dont eat fish, so get a date farm up asap.

Just build 1 date farm nearby and they will rebuild all houses withing 2-3 minutes. EASY!!!

Anyone care to share their own farm builds? I know there are some on the Steam forums, but I reckon at least some people here have some nice ones :)

Had the same thing .. Only happens on desert islands when you manually asign the fields . Let it do the fields by itself (watering can) and it will be fine and not mess up . Also happens with other stuff .

Persil

Ever thought about given your fields some water? Build some norias in the range of the fields and they will be at 100% very fast.

Never even looked at the Anno games before but gave the demo a go and instantly bought the retail. Fantastic game. :)

Hey guys,

I'm having trouble getting my citizens to upgrade to Patricians. At the moment i have abour 200 patricians and 3,000 citizens. I'm meeting all my citizens needs and have their taxes set to as low as possible and ascension rights are not be blocked. But for whatever reason they just wont upgrade. If i click on my marketplace it says they're not meeting the required ascension rights.

I cant think what else i need to do other supply my citizens needs and have their taxes low. I've tried just building more and more homes but i just end up with more and more peasants and citizens.

are you in a scenario that limits their growth? there is some kind of percentage split between the amount of peasants/citizens/patricians/noblemen, so if you are not adavancing it could be something to do with that, or you're not meeting their needs. i manually assign ascension rights and so get the arrow jumping upwards when they're ready - is that happening? you could also have none of the resource required to upgrade - wood, stone, glass or whatever, which means they won't upgrade either.

With the imperial cathedral, as it's so big do you have to clear any houses in order to make space for it to cover the houses, or does it just have a really big range?

There is no need it covers houses as no nobleman requests it. Not sure how it is above 3500 Noblemen but i don't think they will need it. To accomplish this it is good to have large islands because you need a lot of space for all the houses on 1 island. Good luck.

Can someone tell me how to destroy own ships? I have some small ships that I want to replace with big ones and no idea how to remove small ships??????????????

No idea either, if i paid corsairs off i sell the ships to them or i let them to destroy it.

I find paying corsairs its much cheaper/easier than fighting them. Eventually he'll stop asking for money. :) Normally he buys goods from me that are worth more than the tribute i pay him.

Can someone please help me?

On mission 4 but having problems with my income. No matter what I do I run out, think I am overbuilding. I have tried to build a few small markets, production plants right next to them, lots of storage, more houses and trading rope and tools with the Gran Vizir but I always run out of gold. Any tips?

Up the taxes of the houses.

Up the taxes of the houses.

That doesn't seem to make much difference. Can someone quantify overbuilding; is 3/4 markets, around 12 production plants and 20/30 houses too much? When people say build a load more houses, how much exactly?

It's all about getting the right ratios of goods

for a small settlement of say 30 houses, you put down:

Harbour:
2 fishermen, should easily keep you fed
3-4 woodchoppers (these should keep you going all game basically, purchase more if you need more)

Market Buildings:
2 Orchards
2 Hemp Farms
1 Linen worker

Per Iron mine you want:
1 Coal Manufacturer
1 Iron Worker
2 Tool Creators

You just need to know how much of each thing you need in a ratio, for each linen worker you want 2 hemp farms etc. If your citizens are using goods faster than you make them, then put down some more manufacturers.

Citizens pay better taxes if you meet more of their needs too by the way so try to keep them happy, if you are not getting as much as you would like then put down more houses so you get more houses
