Was hoping to get this on steam and give it a go as well, is there anywhere else to download it for under £15 before I get it from the Ubisoft store?

Oh theres many places you can download it for free. But such things are not for discussing :p Personally I got mine from game for £10 non expansion. But thats a bit more then I'd pay for it now. Wonder if theres any news on the sequels release date...

Been looking for something like this, since Tropico 3 is wearing off on me now. Is there any combat involved?

There can be, although it's not too involving. If you play the campaign you'll be forced into combat, but you can create custom games (that are extremely configurable) that needn't have combat at all. Custom's the only way to play in my opinion. :)

Either way, though, combat is absolutely NOT a core element of the game. It's all about supply chains and keeping the peasants happy. It's fantastic. :)

I picked it up as well and completely loving it so far, clocked 9 hours on my first continous game already. For me it feels like a blend of the sim city and settlers series, and I'm a fan of both.

Nice to find a gem after buying something on a whim, I usually live to regret my whims :D.

Haha, glad you're enjoying it! Yeah, it's definitely a "one more turn" game. It's weird how the overall pace seems very slow but you always have a ton of stuff do. You just can't quit until that toolmaker gets built, or until that new island starts producing glass, or until you finally gain that extra rank with the Orients, or or or...

Having trouble searching for an answer to something, that's probably something really simple that I've overlooked:

I'm trying to use an upgraded cargohold ship (from 40 to 60 tons/item) in my auto trade routes, but for the life of me can't see how to get the auto amounts higher than 40 per item. Whether I re-do them, use the slider or whatever it's always a maximum of 40 even though I'm using a 60 ton ship for the route. Any insight would be great :D

Theres 2 methods here. Use another item box, so load a box of 40 and a box of 20, but if its a big 6 slot ship you cant do that for everything ofc. Second method is, they only show up more on the sliders when you buy attainments to increase ship capacity. So thats your best bet. For some reason buying the oriental attainment allows the sliders to rise, as will buying the occidental. So buying both allows much higher loading sliders...

Thanks, the attainments are working for auto trading. Only downside is that it seems the maximum per item is only the base + attainments still, which seems a major flaw as ship cargo increasing items can then only be used optimally with manual loading then :( (I often have large trading ships dealing with 6 different items, so multiple stacks defeats the point of +cargo items).

Tbh I tend to use speed boosts on my trade routes with multiple small ships being cheeper then one big one. I usually have 2 or 3 large tradesmens cogs though with 2x 20 / 30 increase in cargo plus the historic warehouse bonuses, just as floating storehouses / construction fleets.

Just brining this back to the top. I ordered Anno 1404 gold on Saturday. Have been playing the demo for a chunk of yesterday and today.

Had a bit of a problem not losing money on the continuous game but it was still great fun for however long the demo lasted. Finished the couple of campaign missions in the demo too.

I knew about the game years ago but never got around to getting it what with other games to play. Now I have this and World in Conflict to sink some time into :)

Recently just discovered this game (I know right?).. and I like it already! I am a fan of Sim City and it looks similar planning on buying it by this weekend... so from what I gather the base game is more than enough. If so, Amazon seems the cheapest at £5?

Anno 2070 is out soon too.

Spent all of Tuesday and what I could have today playing the campaign. Just about to start level 4. Really enjoying it so far but I've not had to deal with anyone above citizens yet!

Never played the campaign myself. I played the previous games so on this one I just went straight into continuous play.

Just downloaded the 1hr demo of this... very good, How did i miss it???

Cant purchase it on Steam though? :(
