This games awesome probably overlooked or under most peoples radars, how do I get the resources toolbar back on the top of my screen the thing that shows how much wood stone etc you have ?

It should always be up the top, maybe yuo dragged the items off it? You can drag any item from your warehouse on to the top bar to track it. Its unique per island.

Thanks Platypus. Awesome! going to copy some of those ideas.

Hes using modified versions of the ones from the official websites. Take a look at them, theres some amazing layouts you just dont think of!

Oh btw, just to help people out a bit I made a list of how far you can upgrade noble men before they beg for a new type of product and lose happiness.

0 - Meat
24 - 950 - Furs
38 - 1500 - Wine
55 - 2200 - Glasses
75 - 3000 - Candles
100 - 4000 - Brocade Robes

That is how many houses, then how many people. So if you get 24 houses they will want fur, but 23 they wont. Trust me it really helps to upgrade just enough for each stage instead of upgraded hundreds at once and having to provide everything.

I absolutely hate making candles ! By the time I need them I have so much population I nearly need to have a whole island growing bees and hemp. And you have to ship in copper from the orient too :(.

But Beez are great fun! They're so easy to organise and plant!

Aye I have done, works fine.

Well I've built all the monuments, and managed a population of 30,000 so considered it a success and quit :p. Might fraps it.

has anyone got an good efficient layouts for date and spice farms or any kind of farms that need a small noria

Tempted to buy this, as it's so cheap now. Played the demo, and is such as pleasant pace compared to the stuff I normally play.

Does it need the disk in to lauch/play...as this bugs me. Or has it been patched out? Guess there would be a no-cd crack somwhere too.

Seriously bud we cant repost the same website every page :p
Theres 3 websites and 1 text document I use every time I play.
Firstly theres this, just enter your population and it tells you exactly what production you need.
Then theres this, which shows you the production chains and how many of A you need to make B etc.
Lastly theres this which has every layout you could ever want, plus some you dont.
As for the text document. I worked out exactly how many houses of noblemen or envoys you can have before they want another type of goods to keep them satisfied.

0 - Meat
24 - 950 - Furs
38 - 1500 - Wine
55 - 2200 - Glasses
75 - 3000 - Candles
100 - 4000 - Brocade Robes

Envoys:
42 - 1025 - Pearls
104 - 2600 - Perfume
175 - 4375 - Marzipan

Say for example you instantly ranked up 100 patricians to noblemen, they would then need 5 different types of goods before they can be taxed at 'happy', which makes them a major tax drain. But if you upgrade 23 of them first, provide meat, make them happy and fill all the houses to maximum, its a lot better for your tax when you go on to furs.

How cheep have you found it? Me and a friend play co-op on Venice often, but the gold edition is £25 on steam. I hate to say this but, although I have it retail I do use a no-cd crack cause mine isnt a steam edition.

Found Vanilla for 5.99 on the rainforest, Gold for £18...

I use many no-cd cracks for most games with a CD - have been a slow convert to steam (as you seem to pay a premium with steam).

Is Venice worth getting?

Well lets put it this way. I dont play the campaign, just the free play thingamy. All Venice adds to that is another neutral race, the venician. He sells stuff like an item that makes your norias unlimited for a bump in running costs. Beyond that the best thing from the expansion is it adds multiplayer. If neither of those appeal to you, then probably not :) Theres an option for mapmaking from a 3rd party app but its half in german, cant be used mp, and is a pain to get working, but not sure if that was for vanilla too...

Btw if you think steam is bad for pricing, try blizzards online store! They still have Satrcraft 2 listed at £45. You;'d think the whole no box, no disc, thing would drop the price not raise it lol.

Lost my ship

im brand new to this and liking it so far - i seem to have misplaced my ship whilst searching for the orient - is there a way to locate it?

edit: ignore I found the map filter thing

Arch I just struggle so much with money on this, what's the best way to make cash. My tax income jus gets offset by all the production buildings needed to keep the population growing.

Ive completed the campaign and now im about to start a continuous game

using a i7 920 @ 4.2 and a GTX 570 @ 825/2000 with 6GB ram

would my system be able to handle a huge map with 3 AI players with 15-20k cities

during the campaign the cities never really got that large so dont really know what my system can handle

If you need a bit of fast cash then the best bet is to fill a ship with stuff you arent using and sell them directly to a neutral power. Took me a while before I realised you didnt have to wait for them to come to you, plus they buy anything, including honour items.

I should think so easily. My system is worse on cpu and gfx and handles my 40k+ cities with ease and no lagging.
