**Announcing the Overclockers UK Racing Championship**

July really isn't going to come round quick enough, it's only been 3 days and I'm itching to get behind the wheel of a single seater again!

I'm with you, it is extremely addictive. Playing on PC will seem so tame in comparison now.

I have been on strong painkillers for the last couple of years with a bad back, originally a couple of herniated dics. I was actually worried I wouldn't be able to make it through the day on Saturday.

Since Saturday, my shoulders have been aching but my back is virtually pain free. I don't know whether it was the adrenalin or what, but the cure for my bad back appears to be driving cars fast on race tracks! I'll take that, I wonder if I can get Palmersports sessions on the NHS? It's got to be cheaper than the MRI's they keep sending me for.

I'm so glad you all enjoyed it!

Its great to see this kind of thing come together, and seeing everyone enjoy it :)

I believe 99% of the pictures are up now on facebook, and we will have a video to follow in the coming weeks, however we are heading to Insomnia gaming festival this weekend and it is going to take up quite a bit of our time!

The booking system should be working so you guys can get booked in for January from now!

Even after a few days to reflect, I still can't believe I got through to the Final. My lap was awful, the more I watch it, the more I cringe. The low setting sun was a real distraction...

"Enjoyed it" just doesn't cover what a spectacularly brilliant day it was.

Anybody dithering and thinking that a long trek to OCUK to have a go isn't worth it, think again. The Palmersports day alone is a fantastic prize.

Thanks again OCUK :)

Completely agree, it's more than worth the effort to visit, just choose collection the next time you buy something!

It already feels like we "won", just getting to attend the PalmerSport day, let alone making it through to the final to experience another!

Currently racking up the overtime to buy myself another PalmerSport day in the new year, and also saving for the second generation of VR platforms, where it goes without saying, OcUK will be getting my money thrown at them.

What are the dates / deadline for the next round? I've been practicing hard and am going to make the trip up to give it a bash.

I'm booked in tomorrow at 12.30.

I hope it's all set up ready as I don't want to waste a 300 odd mile round trip.

Not practised as of yet but I'm hoping to get on PS4 tonight for an hour or 2.

I've done a few practice laps but the car is a beast to get round the track without spinning.

Can I check what the aids allowed are? Is it right it's just ABS?

How'd you get on Rich?

Hi Paradigm,

Not too bad matey, thanks for asking. :)

I think I've put in a OK-ish lap, it still took me a few laps to get into the VR swing of things but I think another trip will be called for if I want to qualify for the track day.

I had a session on the PS4 when I got home and could only better my time by 8 tenths or so, so I might scrape through but there's so much difference between playing on the PS4 as opposed to the PC, coupled with the fact that the VR aspect is another thing to contend with but I think there's a little bit more time left in it for me.

I've got a PC coming at the end of this month so practicing on that will hopefully stand me in good stead when I have another attempt.

How about you?
Have you booked up for a preliminary Bedford day yet? ;)

I presume for the Qualifier #2 that the car/track combo is still the same?

I'll be heading to OC for a new chair, so may well have to throw my hat in :)

Worth a crack, if you get through you won't regret it :)

Rich, I've got a PS4 as well as PC, default FFB on PS4 is too strong, wind it down to about 75% and give it a try.

I learned the track during Christmas - on keyboard with stability on (impossible on keys without) But with a wheel it's actually way harder without stability than keyboard with stability. Driving aids shouldn't be quicker with keys ever I don't think.

So anyhoo, again can I ask what aids are used on the rig on the day? It was mentioned it was just ABS, is this correct?

So same track? Oulton is both my fave track and one I've driven a lot in real life.

The car is a bit of a handful, and very twitchy when on throttle. I ran a few laps in TT last night, and managed to get quite a good run. I did reset the setup in FP, so not sure why it's showing as custom. But I'm really happy with that time. So should be ok for a 1:37 in FP or QR for my actual run.

Mikey, if you want to emulate the same event I used this:

10 lap solo race, rolling start no opponents
Oulton Park International - Megane V6 Trophy
ABS only (no TC/SC)
Tyre wear, fuel and damage all off

This won't record a leaderboard time, so you will need to look at your session best in the HUD.

Don't forget to switch back to default FFB if you have tweaked that as well.

Thanks for that I'll give that a whirl tonight. I did run with only ABS, but the FF will be an issue for me. I'm running Fanatec, so not really a good comparison with the T500 or inverted pedals @ OC. My old T500 won't fit on the rig any more, so I'll just have to wing that on the day ;)

Do you know what date and time of day it is best to set to? TT is a warm day and something like midday I believe.

I'll track my laps with vrHive anyway, so I can see what they historically look like, and be able to compare with my TT lap from yesterday, so I should get a good comparison.

I don't think the pedals are inverted?! They were by accident once, and someone had to race with acc on left and clutch on right, but they were reset and in normal position when I went.

Don't know about date or time of day sorry. It is a warm day, no cloud or light cloud.

In practice on my triples I was getting consistent low 1:36's and even did high 1:35's a couple of times, but when I went to OC and used the VR setup I found it difficult to judge the braking points. I only managed a 1:37.6, and was hugely disappointed, but managed to scrape through.
