Well short of them moving, or you moving it will probably not improve, people like that don't change.

So what do you think I should do? Do I speak up about this problem and lay down the law or do I just say nothing and put up with their scummy behaviour?

Well, you can do either of those things, or you can move. Is it council or HA? If so you could put a complaint in, but be prepared for something to come through your letterbox if you do.

You have to speak their language and fight fire with fire, I've been there and any hint you are a doormat your eaten alive.
Friends in low places maybe and do everything to move away (I lived 100 yards from Dewsbury moor less than a decade ago)

I live in a small block with 4 flats downstairs and 4 flats upstairs. The downstairs residents are all normal but the upstairs neighbours are a bit rowdy and seem to have created their own little family and they spend their days sat in the corridor/landing talking and drinking everyday and often having very loud arguments. I've been up the stairs once and made my presence known and tbh I could kick the crap out of all of them and I think they know who the "alpha" is in this building as they don't mess with me ever but they are definitely not "normal" people to try and have a reasonable disagreement with.

I have to live here and I'm sure they've probably got some mates much harder than me.

How big is your dad?

My actual neighbours aren't annoying. Its the families about 6 doors from me. Tip is a mile's drive away. Yet they dump things like chest of drawers etc on the pavement, which they can put into their own car (both families have a car).

They are the same families who order takeaways at least 4 times a week, eat a slice or two of pizza and toss the rest.

I always try to keep the peace and never start trouble or cause problems but I've got limits to how far things can go before I kick off.

What about you? What flicks your switch to the point you will go and bang on a neighbours door and complain?

our downstairs neighbours are generally quite but they had a new baby 20 months ago, & since it came home it has sounded like a Satanic goat when it wanted anything. It got out of that phase now & just pure screams in anime style scream anytime it doesnt get its way.
it does this at 4am, 2am & throughout 9-12.

So close to leave a very rude note on their door, one time it was so loud i shouted shut the ..... up & they heard & it instantly stopped

The other neighbours also just had a baby & its been 2 months? no heard it once... shows you what parenting can do.

On a serious not I have real empathy for people with bad neighbours.
Between 1982 and 1983 we had a woman who made our lives hell with music and her TV and I swore I'd never do that to a neighbour.
Luckily since 1983 our neighbour hasn't even had a TV or radio and the only sound we hear is him sneezing now and then.

He's just letting you know he ain't deaded.

Here's the weird thing, there are two neighbours he wars with both who we get on with and they find it very hard to believe we've never had a problem with him in 40 years.
He does really weird things like dancing in front of their houses, laughing very loudly and puts a chair in his drive staring at them.
About two months ago the Police told him he had to stop so he is behaving himself.
Since the Police came (this has gone on for years) he now parks his car to annoy them outside their houses.
He's around 78 years old now.

He's been told to stop this

Well, as you may or may not know, my new neighbour is a tiktok bellwhiff running a pyramid scheme thing.

Live streams from approx midnight u till 4am.

Ive had words with him about his shout n stuff and he has quietened down a bit but it still wakes me up.

Had more words with him last week but it's close to me being a d*ck, laying down the law, being a bit more verbally forceful and contacting the council.

He has his tiktok "agency" registered to his home address.
The "quiet hours" set by the council are 22:00 - 07:00.
So, the noise he makes can be classed as both Domestic and Commercial/Industrial which the council will jump at the chance to sort out because it'll be an easy job.... I'm hoping.

Okay, here's the problem.

Lmfao.

Quoted for longevity.

A @HC1 certificate is where you get free prescriptions. A HC3 isn't free prescriptions but you get some help towards healthcare costs.

If this thread is serious though, then you need to expand on the OP, like what the issue is. Like if it's loud music, then it might be a matter for the council, keep a diary on how often it happens etc.

I’m written about this before but I have a neighbour absolutely obsessed with the hedges between our gardens being absolutely square and exactly 1.6m. He measures them and sends me messages all the time when mine gets a little out of line.
