Annoying words that people use

So my phonetic interpretation of the letter 'h' is wrong then?
It does my head in when people say 'hay-ch' instead of 'ay-ch'.

So... at the end of sentences, the wrong use of literally and 'do you know what I mean' all rank highly on my list of annoyances.

I also hate 'good for you' and people who end sentences with 'and stuff like that'.

A woman in my work once said in a phone conversation 'I think you're undervaluing the property in terms of stuff'. Eh?!!!! This same woman also said that her husband had to dismantle a bed because it wouldn't fit through a door, move it upstairs and then mantle it again.

Also people who say nucular instead of nuclear - Jack Bauer has no excuse, the amount of nuclear devices he has had to deal with.

go drive a car that does it in under 4 seconds and tell me that the sl600 is slow

The SL600 is slow! Well it is compared to dragging your arse along the ground in a Caterham CSR Superlight, which is 0-60 in 3.1s and has a nasty tendency to want to put the rear wheels at the front! Top end wise, no contest at all. But for sheer unadulterated, crap your pants, I'm going to die fun then the little Caterham wins hands down. :D

Sorry, just had to get that out. My Uncle will hate me though, he drives an AMG CLK63.

'mint', as in 'I reckon it's a mint movie'.
Just makes me want to hurt someone.

Another is 'bang out' as in 'it's bang out' without the 'of order' on the end.

LOL

:| Why don't people reserve the LOLs to their world of warcraft sessions ?!? LOL means laugh out loud.... if you are laughin out loud then you don't need to say those 3 letters !

LOL, literally!!!

I don't find any words annoying, no point in concerning oneself over these things, though I don't like the word that rhymes with hunt(starts with a c) and some other equally strong words.

NIPPY

"This car is nippy"

Just to really mess with your head what would a nippy sweetie be to you? Nippy has always been used to describe something that is quite quick and often manoeuverable as far as I am aware but that explanation won't help you with the question I'm afraid. :)

Also I'm curious why people get upset by someone saying "basically", I don't tend to use it in ordinary conversation but I do every so often online usually because I've tried to explain some technical feature of a product and it hasn't been understood so I'll simplify again and say "basically X does Y..." or occasionally "basically that looks fine but ...". Is that acceptable or is that what gets people annoyed?

It is acceptable to me. At the end of the day (and that phrase no doubt annoys some people) everybody has their own way of speaking, all of which are equally valid. It would be boring if everybody used the exact precise same words and phrases wouldn't it :)

Do not watch the Jeremy Kyle show then! :p

Garbage class pratt.

"right... now, I'm gonna tell you something. No -- YOU listen to ME. This is MY SHOW. She - here - you see her?? - she loves you but she can't raise a kid on her own when you're out every night on the lash so soooooort it out!!! Get yerself a job and stop mooching around like a pillock!!"

*cue rapturous applause*

Any word uttered by Jeremy Kyle annoys me. It doesn't matter what they are.

I work for a helpdesk, get a lot of people with annoying idiolects, like the guy who insisted on saying "isnt it" at the end of every sentence..

God, I cant stand people who use BRB and other slang, but don't even say the word, just the abbreviation. Pretty annoying to say the least!

'tis a liquer, such as Drambuie. (I'm not a Sweaty by the way)

Interesting that both of you think of it as an object, I've always used it in reference to a person as in "she is a nippy sweetie" meaning someone who is rather sharp but can potentially be quite nice. :)

"hiya, you ok?"

"how are you?"

I hate "Hiya" too.

Just use Hi or Hey for goodness sake.
