Another coilover thread!

Rob, no offense mate, but if you lived here and drove my car up it I'd let you say what you want. But simple fact is you don't :p

My car clears the driveway by about an inch, coileys will cause scraping!

Jake, you've not been up my driveway/lane. Ben has, it's potholey, has a raised centre and dips for the wheels either side of it...and lowered cars manage it just fine. I can't see how your dinky in town driveway is harder to scale than mine.

I also have some horrific angle and short slopes into my garages, and again, no scraping of cars.

Basically...you're doing it wrong! ;)

As I said and Conanius has also said, reverse on, the rear is higher anyway and the front won't need to scrape if you're that bothered.

thats the one. i was digging through my old PPC mags lastnight because im sure id seen an advert for them. very dear

or just have a sensible ride height

From the website, just having the fronts that raise is €2499, front and rear is €3299

why not just keep the ride height as high as possible on the coilovers? surely some will be able to adjust so that they are the same height as stock? still get the improved damping etc. but without ride height issues.

The height of the car currently is fine, so I don't see why it needs dropping. Stiffening up is about all you should do really, even then I don't see the point in what is, frankly, not worth it now. :/

A) Is this possible
B) How ludicrously expensive is it likely to be?

Ta :D

A)Yes.

Look for the Roberuta Cup

This.

Having coilovers does not mean slam it as low as it'll go and it'll make the handling 10000 x better. That's no different than fitting a set of the lowest springs you can find.

A good coilover setup in most circumstances won't be hugely lower than standard but will offer much improved damping and in some cases the ride will improve as well.

The H+R setup for the Clios is a good example, ride isn't very low, but it's supposedly much much better over bumps and things than stock. Then take it on track and it's awesome.

tbh I'd seriously consider some decent spings, like Eibach Prolines, and then either refresh your standard suspension with OE kit or get something like Koni shocks, although that then brings the price up to near coilover levels.

Check out the prolines if they do a set for your car, ride is better, height is hardly changed, was a noticible improvement.

If people think I want coilovers for ride height they are mistaken.

I want to improve the handling for track use, coilovers is my first step. Afterwards its civic braces and a set of lightweight wheels with R888's

And a zed does look fapping awesome when lowered :D

Thats standard, and this is one on just lowering springs
