Another EA Origin Ban

Whilst what happened sucks, it goes to show why it is never worth bothering swearing in multiplayer games. I always just ignore or laugh at abusive comments sent my way.

Terrible to think that the soldiers you play actually swear in BF3 and it's a war zone!

I suspect we have some non-parents taking the 'hard line'. It makes just as much sense to require your son to get his own account and pay for it, presumably by dodging school and selling drugs. Those living in the real world know how ridiculous that is, and EA seem to agree.

Anyway sounds like you might eventually get this sorted, but im really put off origin by all this... Although to be fair whilst i own bf3 i dont play it and after SWTOR there really is no reason to have origin on my comp.

The soldiers swear, also, on SW:TOR, for the PvP servers it states along the lines that whatever happens on that server isn't deemed offensive or inappropriate and you basically know the consequences of joining a PvP server.

Werent there some ridiculous bans in swtor for swearing in p2p private chat?

I have heard rumours relating around that.

This is the description:
"issues that can be resolved with pvp are not considered harrassment and will not be dealt with as such"-Bioware (loading screen regarding PvP servers)

I think the lesson here is don't use Origin. It's just a bad experience overall, a prime example is BF3 for me. Would have bought it if it was on Steam and worked like every other normal game but EA decided to release it with a horrible server list that runs off your internet browser and on Origin.

but for one member of a household to cheat at 1 game, meaning everyone getting punished on ALL games, even in SP mode, does seem harsh.

Harsh? Maybe. Unjust? No.

He misplaced trust in his son, and gave him responsibility that he wasnt ready for. EULAs don't have a clause that absolves responsibility because his child doesn't know that cheating is bad.

but EA themselves admited that that ban was infact unjust, hence why they lifted it

This ^^^^

Price you pay for hacking, even if it was not you, it was linked to your account. I am glad to know EA/Origin are doing this. You should not be allowed your account back full stop and this should make you teach your child to never do it again. Then as said above use his/hers pocket money to replace all your games. I drummed it into my son many moons ago the dangers of cheating/hacking online, more parents should follow suit.

BF3 thing was wrong but you should not have had your account back in the first place.

Are you an idiot?

I know what you are saying, but the fact is the hack happened WHILE it was linked to YOUR account. Does not matter your sons account was moved. Also swearing online is pretty childish, you 100% deserve a total ban.

So you should have stayed banned, I guess the fact you are banned again after being let of is karma. Swearing aside ban should stand for the hacking offense.

Since when is "swearing" childish? Have you played any online games? Because I don't think you have and if you did you're opinion would be different and not narrow-minded.

:D

But yeah I would man up and take the fine/points for her yes. I wouldn't find a driving website and cry anyway

Then you're a pushover? So you take the blame for other people? Sums up who you are.

Anyone who plays on-line games no that the majority of admin are biased and power hungry. Admins on Battlefield 3 are sooner to ban someone for commenting they're a bad admin then to ban a legitimate cheater. The amount of times [HaX] group has been banned and kicked from servers for none other then genuine playing because the admin's behind was sore.

Administrator on servers need official processing by EA/DICE or an official governing body because the game is riled with pilocks with powers who ban because "you killed them" or "disagreed" with them. I was banned a week ago for saying the admin was a nonce for banning someone who used a M320 when a player with 100 - 0 was killing players with a SOFLAM. And the game was five minutes into the game. Before he was banned ten minutes later, the server emptied and he had to check his statistics before he was banned.

I feel for my friend, admins shouldn't have the power to ban you from the game let alone have an influence to loosing you're entire account. A ban from the server. THAT'S IT.

This is why I don't own BF3 and probably will never own another EA title because they are a bunch of nazi's and I refuse to be in a position where they can bar me access to a game I have purchased.

Whilst I feel sorry for you personally being in this situation I do lol in general at those of you who put yourself in EA's power when we all know how much of a pack of ***** they are.

but some of us actually like the games, why should we not be able to play them because EA can go a bit power mad?!?
if they were available by other means, then 99.99999999% of the population would not use origin, but they arent.
surely, there have been enough instances now that EA should look into how their setup is run, and look into a better structure for dealing with problems.

That just about sums you up, internet ninja with uber hard words. Anyone has a different view you ninjas go on the attack with silly childish attacks.

Online it is yeah do it to someones face not online.

Not really any of your business is it what I would and would not do for my wife? Thanks for caring though

I don't really give a rats arse about the BF3 thing, but his account is already flagged for cheating on his sons part so anything that happens now he will get harsh punishments just like he has. If you got a swearing report nothing would happen to you like it has to him, it is down to his account being flagged.

I didn't read in the Op where he said he was aware his son was hacking(before he was banned). Allowing is quite a strong word seeing as the OP is against the practice

I'll rephrase then: I don't let anyone use my account except me. The point I was making is that this wouldn't happen to me for the reasons stated in the original post.

Terrible to think that the soldiers you play actually swear in BF3 and it's a war zone!

Swearing is fine, but abusing other people is not okay, and not that I can accuse the OP of this, but I see way too many gay and racial slurs at other people in game that annoys me. Personally, if I had my own server I would auto kick on the word "noob" amongst others, because insulting other players is tedious and childish, not the type of people I want to play with.

If the OP was banned globally purely for curse words from one server then okay, I feel that is over the top.

ok, this i do have to agree with you, although it pains me :p
once you have a mark, then your account should be looked on differently. but i think a sweeping ban is unjust. an MP ban i think would have been the best punishment, afterall EA have taken money for his games he should be allowed to play them, and in SP mode he can do no harm to anyone.
then a full investigation by the powers that be at EA followed up with a written explination as to punishment and reason for it. then a timescale to appeal.

I agree that I act overly principled and I can see why people do give in because they do want to play the titles that EA offer. Not as many people would be as willing to forego great games (I do miss the opportunity of playing BF3 a lot) to make a stand but I wish more people would because whilst 99.9% object to the way EA act 99.9% will still get on with things and just put up with it and pray it is not them. If more people would step back and say "no" it would be reviewed unfortunately people just want an easy life (understandably) and won't do this.

They should but we all know this will never, ever happen. Ever.
