I really am stretching my budget going up to £1500 so I'm either P35x or G72. Latter has the edge due to the bigger screen which will be beneficial for when I work from home (I'm a sql developer) so need the bigger screen.

I am also considering going a bit higher for...

I have ruled out the Aorus, I am getting MSI and these are my last 3 choices.
YOUR BASKET

All I need to do now is convince myself whether I need the extra GPU fire power and the cost associated.

Thanks for the advice mate
Hi Voicon
If you are considering upping the budget as much as it appears from your last post, then I would seriously put the AORUS X7 Pro G-sync model into the options basket !!

Got everything that you say you need, and with the SLI GTX970m's on board, is the fastest GPU performance of any of these.
And actually the model with SLI GTX860m is only slightly below the performance of a single GTX980m, so the unit you say you have ruled out actually still holds its own,,, and you get FOC rucksack with the older unit.

We only posted here because you have selected a £2,099 unit, that we felt was worth mentioning our G-Sync model.

Doesn't make that much odds really - your going to have to sacrifice some settings for 4K gaming on a laptop - no single current laptop GPU even a 8GB 980M is going to play modern/future games at high settings at 4K without struggling a bit.
You'd need a pair of 4+GB GPUs really to make the most of 4K gaming.
Hi Atom
I am sort of upping the budget, I can get the 980M 8Gb unit for £1,899, the only concern I have with 2 x GTX970 3Gb is that's only 3Gb available VRAM so if I do go 4K is that going to be a bottle neck?
Cheers
So there will be no or very little difference when playing at 4k between 3Gb and 8Gb of VRAM?

Just listed my Alienware 14 on eBay so depending how much that goes for will depend on which laptop I get
Just noticed the prices some alienwares are going for on eBay which are a lesser spec than mine. I could be on for increasing my budget from £1500
