I bought the 2080 Ti cards as I wanted to try out the new Turing cards, words like Wish, Hope, faith belief and trust don't even factor into it.
I already have other gaming options that are faster than Turing.

But to be fair he is somewhat right as at least 99% of games ever made won't ever go over it. But there are definitely some games out there that do and obviously going forward there will be even more.indeed, haha 8 gig isnt enough for ff15 at 720p
Its dangerous to make claims like "vram isnt needed" based on the very few games reviewers cherry pick.
Going from a dead RTX 2080Ti to 2x GTX 1080Ti's is definitely an upgrade !. My RTX 2080Ti gave up life after 4 days

I have run SLi permanently in all my systems since 2006. The number of SLi game related issues I've had can be counted on one hand.and hello to the SLi ones
I sold 2x Zotac GTX 1080Ti F.E cards to get RTX 2080Ti and get better performance in games than don't support SLi. My RTX 2080Ti lasted 4 days, and after reading about multiple failures etc I didn't feel comfortable getting another one that would have 50/50 risk of dying within a week.
My wife has been through her 2nd RMA of MSI RTX 2080 Duke card. We have now had the same number of RMA's (3) on graphics cards, that we have had over the past 20years having had about 175 cards through the hands.
I got my money refunded and bough two GTX 1080Ti's on sale (cheaper than RTX 2080), because I know what I would get and could expect again. I am not going for RTX cards before the fault is identified, and probably not going for them before we see a 2nd iteration of the card. Pretty dissappointed with the Ray Tracing performance and effect overall.

I would have believed that too until I ran 2x 1070 Ti's recently and in Sli the performance improvement was rubbish. This was using a 1950X however that some say does not work well with Sli. In Far Cry 5 and Prey 2016, the FPS gains were pretty minimal. I did get a bit more using only half the CPU but from memory FC5 was giving 22% more with Sli. Looking at some reviews it seemed all over the place whether you get any improvement in performance, none and all, or in some cases maybe even lose a bit
We don't know what games he plays. But my understanding is on majority of games released the past couple of years, there is little to no SLI support. I will never go multi gpu again. Been there done that, fun for a while, but single GPU is where it is at. It just works!
I would much rather have a 2080 Ti than two 1080 Ti's personally.
True. There are like a handful of games as far as I know that go over 8gb in existence.The same 99% of games also wont go over 4 gig tho
Don't get me wrong, I like having 12GB VRAM, at least I know I will never have VRAM issues. But also I am realistic and know only a few games make use of it up until now. Hopefully more will make use of it soon though, at 4K at least

Fair enough. Nvidia really had a poor launch this time. RTX is not as good as the videos they showed, hardly any games used it 3 months on, silly prices and the cherry on top many of them go pop. Lol.
I am looking forward to RTX 3000 series. Hopefully they manage to double the RT cores and devs learn to optimise their code better so I can play at 4K. Oh and hopefully there are more than a handful of games supporting it by then

Don't know but I also bought a couple of Titan V cards when they launched.
Having said that NVidia should look at their pricing and what they offer for it as I think £500 should be the asking price for a normal top tier gaming card.
NVidia could have left out all the RTX and DLSS for Turing and would have then been able to produce a 2080 Ti for £500.
ATM NVidia are charging people to recoup the cost of developing and deploying tech that is only just feasible to use and I am not sure if most people want these features at the asking price.
I think this hits the nail on the head really. They should have at least kept the same pricing structure
They would never do that, makes no business sense if they are trying to push RTX. They need as big user base as possible to get devs to make games for it. If they did that it would just never take off.

Physx probably not gone away either it's probably now just fully integrated, part of the norm, or done differently/better.
RT or something that does the same thing is the future
. Eventually it'll not even be thought about - just done. To say it'll just die off is like saying we'll never have the effects/additional realism it provides.One of the things I dislike about the 20 series is actually the RTX name
. Should have just stuck to GTX with RT capabilities, ie, an additional feature.If NV released GTX cards alongside, few would buy RT due to the cost and it would never take off. In a few years we'll all be glad NV took this move.
