Another school shooting in the US

Question then.

Should every US citizen have the right to own nuclear weapons ? Large bombs that could taken out entire states ? is that none of the governments business either ?

Nuclear bombs and machine guns dont have a defensive purpose for individuals. I suppose if you interpreted the 2nd amendment as a collective right then each state could have it's own independent nuclear weapons.

As an individual though you make a judgement for self-defense on a single person at a time. That means shooting attackers one by one as you make the call if they are threatening your life or not and firing one shot at a time and being accountable for every shot. If you are being threatened by a gang of 5 people you wouldn't spray them with a machine gun. You'd shoot each one that is attacking you which might mean shooting the 2 of them that are pointing knives at you and not shooting the other 3 that are just bystanders.

But I guarantee you'll want more than 10 rounds in the mag if you just put 5 rounds in each knife wielder to stop them, and the other 3 are still there. There's a reason the police usually shoot people 20-30 times, people can take a huge amount of handgun bullets before they give up.

defensive = semi-auto
offensive (assault weapon) = full-auto and above.

They do, they can argue that bombs and weapons of mass destruction can be used for self defense just as you can AR-15

The point is that you have to draw the line somewhere, and currently in the US that line is drawn in the wrong place.

I would take the NRA's suggestion and run with it:

  • Introduce a $1/bullet levy on every bullet produced - there are 10-12 billion bullets sold in the USA every year (mental) thus raising around $10-12 billion/year
  • Allow a tax rebate for firing ranges where the bullets are bought and used on site to satisfy the hobbyists.
  • No tax on guns themselves to satisfy gun-collectors
  • Home Defence/Hunting uses minimal rounds so the additional expense will be minimal
  • Allowing for rebates etc, $5 billion pays for the remaining ~75k schools at $66k per armed officer - everyone wins!

Would you want an AR15 in your house if you lived in South Africa or Zimbabwe? Because urban USA is not much different. The metro areas are one natural or political disaster away from total chaos.

BTW half of the police during Katrina simply disserted and went home to their families! You are on your own!

Remember the London riots? It can happen there too, not a stretch to imagine it turning violent.

ROTFL.

USA no different from Zimbabwe. WTF have you been smoking ?

lolkwerk indeed.

Have you ever spent time in an American ghetto? How would you rate your level of safety? because I've spent plenty of time in them and I rate the level of safety as a non drug-addicted white person at ZERO. Add a disaster that overwhelms the authorities and I rate it -10. There are multiple parts of town I will absolutely not go near unarmed.

Kwerk, you have just been appointed Minister in Charge of Firearms. Congratulations. Here's a corner office and a fat secretary. What are you going to do about the issue of gun control?

I'm going to play golf because there is no issue.

if Obama didnt have reason enough to introduce strict gun controls, the moron speaking on behalf of the NRA just gave him another one

Gun control works, how many school massacres in the UK since Dunblane and tightening of already strict gun laws = 0

how many school massacres where there before dunblane?

Well, obviously there is an issue because lots of children have been massacred. How is that not on your radar?

Let me rephrase it: what steps would you take to prevent further school shootings?

hmm attempting to kill rioting people/looters during the LA riots in order to protect property? Not exactly a civilized thing to do now is it....

On the other side of the pond we have this thing called insurance - our Asian shop keepers don't feel the need to fire randomly at people they believe are stealing from them.
