another week, another ebay thread - but this is a good one!

He probably just wanted that specific part. Now he has that and wants to return the rest free of charge.

It's currently in dispute, so unless we can agree something within 8 days, ebay steps in and makes a decision.

He wants a refund, I will only give a refund if it comes back in the original condition (which is now impossible, missing part and everything has been opened).

I've removed everything from paypal so hopefully they won't take any money from me.

My only worry is getting a black mark on my credit file (if that's possible)

It's not possible, you haven't entered in to any sort of credit agreement, so your credit file doesn't apply.

They can't take any money at this point now, they can only ask you for it.

As I was saying before, you can accept the return and let PayPal foot the bill as that's how it'll look anyway.

But the bottom line here is that your money is protected from this point onwards.

Well you know what I am going to say don't you.

Oh look another ebay thread.

I am beginning to not feel any sympathy for you guys, you chose to ignore the advice given and you get your just deserved.

P.S Did those people who created that other thread in the GPU section (that got deleted btw) get their 980 Asus Strix's delivered?

Oh look, it's you posting the exact same thing again. Why don't you do the thing you're moaning at eBay users for not doing, and stop coming in to eBay threads?

The only reason people use eBay and not MM* is because they know they can fleece people on eBay :p

And the price you pay for this is the fact that selling on eBay is less safe than a children's adventure holiday with Jimmy Saville.

*if you have MM access.

Eh

Considering it's an auction where people bid however much they want, how on earth can you fleece anyone lol

Unless you mean ebays full of idiots paying more than retail price for something. That's their fault not the sellers.

The only way of fleecing someone I guess is with a high buy it now price

A few weeks ago, I saw some idiots bidding on a used RGB K70 keyboard that went for about £20 above the brand new retail price.

Yes that's what I mean.

People sell on eBay because they know bidders will pay over the odds 99% of the time. The trade-off is the fact that it's rife with scammers.

You can avoid the scammers by selling on the MM, but then you know you'll only get what the item is actually worth...

Some people like to get bargains in the MM, but will only sell their own stuff for what they can get on eBay... a bit of a cheek, really :p

Ebay's ok. I've only ever had one person pull a fast one, with the help of the inefficient French parcel service (failing to update their delivery tracking until some time after I'd had to issue a refund - though it's still possible that wasn't a scammer, but rather just the postal service making up missing tracking details to avoid compensating me)

Other than that once, I've sold about 200 items for about £4k of sales with barely a problem at all.

So, yeah, you lose occasionally - but you still get more money, even after fees, than selling pretty much anywhere else. You just need to stay level, mentally, when the problems crop up. If suffering a scammer is going to ruin your life, then avoid Ebay.

I've not sold any high value PC gear or mobiles, though. Suspect those areas are worse.

That is appalling, but it's so common in outsourced call centres these days.

My Manager will tell you the same thing as what I have told you. In fact, they are the ones who taught us about the procedure.

"The procedure" :D

All these recent eBay hate-threads are certainly putting me off using it.

I've only sold a couple items: an iPhone 5 16 GB and a Nexus 7 32 GB 2012. All within the last 4-5 months too, so I'm hoping the buyers don't come back to bite me the arse under that stupid 180 day pro-buyer rule. Maybe I'll just cancel my accounts before there's a chance of that happening!

Ok so what is to stop me ordering a £500 gfx card for my alienware, and just claim there was rubble/assorted junk in the box and getting a new card and my money back!?!?! I could just open the box and reseal it with selotape and claim the courier must have done it. I mean it is one thing to say it never turned up, or was faulty/not as described but to say you got it but there was not the correct item inside..... i mean there must be thousands of scammers doing this.

This is why its turning into a very risky place to sell!
