Ant-Man & The Wasp Quantumania (Marvel)

Would you mind giving me a brief recap on who he is? Spoiler tagged of course, I gave up on Loki after a few episodes.
He's a time traveller from the 31st century, Who is related to Reed Richards. They retconned a bit of his origin. In that, he discovered The Multiverse, and variiants of himself. And worked together with them until a few bad apples began to go to war with eachother, thuis sparking "The Multiversial War". And I assume this variant that Ant-Man meets is the main Variant who sparks the war. He who remains from Loki, was the sole survivor of the war. And kept the TVA as a means to prune timelines to stop his various selves from coming back. Sylvie killed him, thus freeing the multiverse and sparking the next Multiversial War.

Thankyou, i'm reasonably well versed with the comics but Kang was never a character I came across much.

He's honestly not a huge villain in the comics, But he's fun. He does things because he's a genius and is bored. The Multiverse stuff is MCU retcon though. But really, Time travel and the mulitverse are one in the same. Various timelines. Wait until they introduce
Iron Lad.
A good variant of Kang that joins The Avengers.

Antman is a weird one for me.

He is kind of the idiot bad dad family loving frontman of the little Pim gang. Now I know that's meant to be his charm but I find it a bit borderline meh.
He is, has been, the comic relief character so I can't see how he could possibly outsmart Kang, who I've been lead to believe is a complete mastermind temporal genius... Lol

I'm just not seeing family man vs temporal warlord as a fair matchup.

Now he's setting the stage for phase 4?
Oh well I'll still go see it probably.
Hetes my 120Kr lol

I reckon ant man dies. I'm sure that would solidify Kang's character and raise the stakes a bit for the rest of phase 5 and 6. He will have done 5 films by the time this is over which is plenty. They have the wasp character and Cassie as well if they want to continue the pym particle stuff .

Edit: rewatched the trailer a few times, and no Michael Cena!

The Ant-man movies have been comparatively low-key compared to a lot of other MCU movies.

First Ant-Man came immediately after Avengers: Age of Ultron
Second Ant-Man came soon after that Infinity War ending

But he had a very significant role in End Game so his role has grown more important over time.

But you are right, he's not the one to be outsmarting someone like Kang, so it's possible they could kill him off.

He just feels like the setup vehicle character.
Just like how they treated Dr strange.
It doesn't matter really, someone has to be the protagonist and he does fit the sub atomic role :p

What's everyone's general excitement level with the MCU at this point? Honestly, I'm nearing my limit. It's just becoming tiresome. My hype level for this one is probably at like a 3/10.

Mine was 0 when it first started. It's about -300 right about now. I was never interested in these type of movies, I guess because I didn't read the stuff when I was little.

I don't quite understand the whole "I don't listen to critic reviews only user reviews", or vice versa. At the end of the day, a review is simply someone's opinion. Whether someone has seen 1000 movies or 10 movies, it doesn't really make their opinion less or more valid. They should all just be lumped together as "the consensus".

I would say I generally have less faith in user reviews though, because all it takes is for one group of morons to review bomb something, or take a meme and swing it the opposite direction from its true score, even when they literally haven't seen the thing, which is ridiculous.

Yeah the public are so reliable...

Episode 3 of the last of us is the lowest rated of the series by the public, despite clearly being a fantastic episode.

More reliable than the critics, I mean they think Lonesome is a perfect 100% film just because its a budget broke back mountain.

If anything that just shows the majority of people don't like being lectured on LGBTQIA++ rubbish. They just don't give a crap either way. First world problems, second war breaks out or a major disaster happens all that rubbish will go out the window, along with vegans thankfully.
