Ant-Man & The Wasp Quantumania (Marvel)

Brokeback mountain: In 1963, rodeo cowboy Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) and ranch hand Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) are hired by rancher Joe Aguirre (Randy Quaid) as sheep herders in Wyoming. One night on Brokeback Mountain, Jack makes a drunken pass at Ennis that is eventually reciprocated. Though Ennis marries his longtime sweetheart, Alma (Michelle Williams), and Jack marries a fellow rodeo rider (Anne Hathaway), the two men keep up their tortured and sporadic affair over the course of 20 years.

How you think that is the same as two gay men having a relationship for 20 years in a post apocalyptic World, I do not know.

Cover/Poster of the movie is 2 cowboys, easy to compare them from that alone, even if the content is completely different, I wouldn't know I'd never actually chose to watch it anyway.

Only reason I watched TLoU episode 3 is because I wasn't expecting it, even though I thought the episode was OK but unnecessary.

What's everyone's general excitement level with the MCU at this point? Honestly, I'm nearing my limit. It's just becoming tiresome. My hype level for this one is probably at like a 3/10.

At this point - virtually none.

I think the MCU "ended" for me with End-Game, anything past that doesn't really seem to aimed towards me or what I liked in the older films so I'm happy to pass the torch onto the new generation of MCU fans who must be pouring money hand over fist into seeing these "made for the new fans" Phase 4 films..............oh wait

I can't see anyway forward for the MCU that would bring me back into being a paying fan, and I think the end of Thor, GotG, Ant Man etc won't have anywhere near the same impact as the end of Iron Man. The only slight glimmer the MCU has for the future is Spiderman, and he's not even theirs as the IP is still with Sony.

Yikes, not been a decent spiderman film yet maybe because i am not 13.

But it seems the MCU has lost direction and they really need to up the uber baddie/multiverse side of things to refocus whatever nonsense they have planned.

In 2 minds know if I should watch it Saturday or wait for Disney+.
I'd wait, early reviews coming in and it seems a bit of a mess, seems to be following the current marvel trend of having ****** cgi as well. I think the most damning comment I've seen is that it doesn't add anything to the mcu, totally skippable. Considering this is the big launch off point for p5, that's a total worry.

Booked to see it tonight. I'm a big fan of the movies despite never reading any comics so I doubt I will be disappointed. My standards must be lower as I think I have seen every single one at the cinema and never left thinking I wasted 10 euros/pounds. Watched evry single one at least once more on streaming, bar Black Widow.

If you spend your life reading other people's reviews and opinions over just spending £10 yourself and forming your own opinion, then I would agree. Skip all films and just watch Youtube reviews within an echo chamber :D

If a reviewer gives the same opinions as myself on films that I have already seen, why wouldn't I listen to them regarding a film I haven't seen - so of course its an echo chamber, thats the whole point, even a simpleton can understand that!!!!!!

Hhhmm not looking great, Jeremy Jahns gave it a 'fine with alcohol' score. Still gonna watch it but Marvel still struggling post phase 3 by the sounds of it.

At some point it's good to form your own opinions, rather than just listen to the same person again and again, but that's just my way of approaching films.

Personally, it's a bit weird to me. How did you consume movies and other forms of entertainment before youtube and the Internet were a thing?

Why do you think people listen/watch just one youtube channel? Regardless the critic score on RT for this is currently sat at 49% with the audience score around 80%, the usuals constantly say to ignore audience scores for movies/tv shows, but i guess that only works if the scores are bad?

See a movie you liked the look of, catch some reviews and decide if it's worthwhile to see. The days of marvel movies (let alone any film) being a guaranteed watch regardless are long gone. Considering P4 has been substandard, checking the reviews of people whose taste you know aligns with your own is pretty prudent. Obviously with yourself being a bit of a fanboy you'll disagree with this approach, which is fine. But given the timeframe for a big screen release and then streaming is tiny these days if a movie is bland, boring, bad etc why would someone put themselves through the hassle and cost of going to the cinema?

He is kinda hit or miss tbh. Not a reviewer you can rely on. Maybe he is right as there is a few more reviewers giving the same consensus but will tell u after i watch it. Fingers crossed.

I will agree with this, as I do the same for a few films (non marvel stuff obviously :D ).

At this point, I can save you the effort, the YouTube channel you are watching will never again recommend a Marvel film beyond phase 3, regardless of the quality. Anything helmed by a female director is probably already condemned and anything linked to Kathleen Kennedy, patty Jenkins, Mindy kaling is a no no. Star wars, out as well. Might be a a couple I've missed!

See unfortunately you are making an ass of yourself with the silly blanket statements like this, as the channel that stated this movie is entirely skippable enjoyed and recommended Eternals on their initial viewing for a start

Do you miss this quite important bit of my post?

I did what everyone did, to find out what new films were out/upcomming I watched movie/TV review programs on TV (Barry Norman on the BBC for example) or I read film/TV magazine and newspapers and picked what looked best from various reviews - Seriously, you know that the world existed before "the Internet" don't you or, and this is a genuine question, are you a "post millennium" child born after 2000?

I suspect we are of a similar age as I too used to watch Barry Norman and bought the odd copy of Empire magazine, back in the day. I don't really find those styles of reviews similar to some of the youtube ones posted in this subforum, so in that respect it was a genuine question. No need to be rude ;)

Do you ever find yourself disagreeing on a film with your "favourite" youtube reviewer? Or does a negative from him just mean you won't go to the cinema to see that particular movie?
I'd love to see his ant man review (after I watch the movie) and see if my opinion lines up with his. If someone could post a link to the channel, that would help me out!

You done me good! That particular reviewer liked the movie on their initial viewing and went back for seconds. I barely made it through the 2nd viewing and I'm a sucker for Marvel stuff!
