After doing the Windows updates, where do you get all the driver updates? Does AyaSpace cover all that?

Windows update will grab most of everything that needs updating then after all the windows updates will be many, go into AyaSpace and click look for updates (Hold down the AyaSpace button to get to the full AyaSpace menu not the side menu only with one click) and it will do the rest anything that maybe missing can be found at also here :-

Drivers and BIOS and firmware updates here from Antec :- https://www.antec.com/product/download-system.php

Or you can go to Ayaneo and get the drivers and AyaSpace updates there too.

Select the windows consoles then Ayaneo Slide (Antec Core HS is a Ayaneo Slide rebranded) option and will show all updates available :-

https://ayaneo.com/support/download

MAKE SURE to read the README files on how to install them inside the folders if needed, so far didn't need anything as all was most recent for BIOS, Firmware and Drivers.

For AyaSpace updates click AyaSpace option. Or you can update Ayaspace inside AyaSpace and it will also find other updates needed.

Latest AMD drivers for the Ryzen 7 7840U can be found here too :-

https://www.amd.com/en/products/processors/laptop/ryzen/7000-series/amd-ryzen-7-7840u.html

Or you can go into AMD drivers and click update inside the Adrenalin application and it will update to latest version.

Just make sure first thing you do after doing the windows setup stuff when switching on to go to windows update and do all the updates and check after each restart for more updates until fully updated and no more updates available, then update AyaSpace inside it and go from there really should be fine after that if windows update picked up the latest drivers and AyaSpace updated to version 2.5.

How to get into the BIOS?

1. Make sure the unit is shut down in windows / powered completely off.

2. Slide open the screen to access the keyboard, then hold function FN key and F2 at same time and click the power button to start the device up while holding FN key and clicking F2.

3. You will see a box with boot options and BIOS settings option, move down with arrow keys on keyboard and click enter for BIOS settings option.

4. You are now in the BIOS.

How to change the RAM speed to 7500Mhz from the standard 6400Mhz in the BIOS ?

1. Go to - Advanced > AMD CBS > umc common options > LPDDR timing configuration.

2. UMC COMMON OPTION > LPDDR OPTION > LPDDR TIMING CONFIGURATION, (Scroll down and Accept the warning), then ACTIVE Memory Timing (Needs to be set to ENABLED) then Maximum Memory Data Clock speed change to 7500MHz.

How to change VRAM size in BIOS ?

1. Go to - Advanced > AMD CBS > NBIO Common Options > GFX Configuration > UMA Frame Buffer Size

2. Change the VRAM size you need (default is 6GB), I set mine to 8GB so leaves 24GB for system RAM. (Can set to max VRAM of 16GB via the BIOS)

How to change VRAM size with AyaSpace ?

1. Open AyaSpace holding down the AyaSpace button to access the full AyaSpace not the side bar.

2. Go to Device in the left hand window options and inside that area you can set the VRAM size you need and will need to restart windows to take. (Can set to max VRAM of 14GB via the AyaSpace in 1GB steps)

Any changes in the BIOS need to be saved and the device restarted to take.

How do I improve the sound quality on the device ?

You can download FxSound for free for any windows device to boost sound quality, volume, and bass. Including an equalizer, effects, and presets for customized audio.

More FxSound help videos here :- https://www.youtube.com/@FxSound/videos

How to Calibrate your device's controller ?

This needs to be done in windows and AyaSpace installed and running.

Calibration Method 1:

  2. Release the keys when the device vibrates;
  3. Wait for ten seconds, the buttons and joysticks should be corrected.
Calibration Method 2:
  1. Press and hold [LB] + [RB] + [Dpad Left] + [B key] at the same time;
  2. Release the keys when the device vibrates;

Will not work on this device the dev fewt has confirmed. Also he has left the Antec discord channel now too, due to the issues with getting linux to work on this device.

Looking forward to getting mine - being delivered this afternoon.
A whole evening of Windows updates awaits! :D

Just install the windows updates, update the AMD drivers inside the drivers provided by searching updates and same for AyaSpace inside the full AyaSpace hold AyaSpace button down to get to that and check for updates in there too. Nothing else needs doing and enjoy the device. If you have any issues, you know where to shout ;).

If you use discord join the ANTEC discord here that Antec Lee above provided and look for the Handheld section :- https://discord.gg/RhEHbN2Fxr .

Like a kid in a candy store :-)

We are all big kids on here :cry: , Lee when I have time threw the week I will DM here or the Antec Discord channel regarding some things that could be added to the Antec support page for the Core HS that will make your companies life easier to support the device.

This page :- https://www.antec.com/product/download-system.php

I will just add a few things now:-

1. Explaining how to recover to factory settings via a sequence of button pressing (one-click restore as Ayaneo call it) and not to try doing it in windows or reinstalling windows as doing it in windows will not work and reinstalling windows for the novice causes them problems and deletes the factory recovery partition.

After performing a one-click restore, all files in the computer will be cleared. Users are advised to back up their files and data before performing this operation;

Before performing this operation, please charge the battery to more than 50% to avoid restore failure due to battery problems during the restore;

During the restoration process, do not click any keys except the necessary key clicks in the article below to prevent the restoration from failing;

  1. Turn off the machine, observe that the fan has stopped completely and the thumbsticks light does not light up;
  2. Press [Volume + button ] + [RC button ], then click [Power button] and press them simultaneously and keep them still;
  3. When the fan and thumbsticks lights are on, release the [Power button] but do not release the [Volume + button] + [RC button];
  4. After entering the restoration interface, release [Volume + button] + [RC button]

As this video also shows how to do that :-

2. Adding a recovery ISO download to the support page in case SSDS fail or people replace them and didn't clone the working drive first or try dual booting a Linux distro/SteamOS and messing up their SSD. So gives customers an option to recover the full factory settings and the factory recovery partition (which re-enables the one-click restore). This also makes your lives easier for support just this option.

You may have noticed on the Antec Discord I helped a user there restore their Core HS after him flashing a Ayaneo BIOS on his device and then reinstalled windows from USB and destroyed his factory recovery partition in the process and had to work him threw re-setting it up.

Just things that will help customers and would be great if Antec could add spare parts and batteries for replacement too for easy purchase on the support area too.

OHH one more I noticed the Antec support page does not have AyaSpace download option, so unless Antec customers know it is a Ayaneo Slide rebranded they will not know where to get AyaSpace from, so adding a download will help too with people sending support tickets for that ..

Will add more but these are ones that come to mind so far. Thank you.

Right, there are another 70 units (mix of black and white) coming to UK in the next week or so, they will be bundles again. The reseller is placing a new order to me today.

This will be the last of the promo bundle though. The pre-order option should be enabled soon to place the order on their site.

Thanks I have a few friends and work colleagues that want one now too and I'm thinking maybe to grab another one too but in white as I really like the device and that way I will have both colours while the bundle deal is running. My brother purchased the white one and looks great in real, so does the black of course that I currently have.

Have those gone live yet? - as they're now showing as sold out.

Also, once the bundle goes away, will the 32GB/2TB model be avaiable separately? I might be tempted but not in the 16GB model ideally

Waiting still for the stock to come in, so not restocked yet at the UK retailer selling them for Antec. Also the Antec direct store is sold out too at moment.

Well they were available on the Antec store earlier today it seems and have sold out instantly .. So lets hope when the UK retailer selling them gets them in they don't fly out so quickly as I would like to grab a second one in white too grrr.. So far they have not restocked them at the UK retailer the 70 units Antec Lee stated above.

If I can't get one of these bundles I'll wait for the next-gen models next year.

^... this will be everyone next week when they get an in stock notification running for their phones and laptops to place an order. I noticed they didn't even turn on the pre-order option this time too for them as last time a good chunk was pre-ordered before they put the remaining stock online. So hopefully will be easier to get one this time.

Managed to try a few games.
StarCraft was great docked on mouse and keyboard, but I'm strugglng with other games.
I've connected an xbox controler, that doesnt seem to do anything, and then neither do the built in controls on the device...seems the games are expecting screen touch as input?
Any noddy advice on setting up xbox controller for it or using the built in controls?

The reason your Xbox controller is not working is because it is connecting as controller 2 and will work for 2 player games fine but the menus and such will be searching for controller 1, there is an option in AyaSpace to turn off the built in controller which acts like xbox controller 1 so you can use your own controller paired up to the device as controller 1. Also you may need to go to some games options and enable the controller as this device has a keyboard so defaults to typical mouse and keyboard settings first on some games, it's the games being the issue not the device, so just setting up the controller in the game resolves it, some games are clever enough to use the controller first or have both enabled.

Also depends which service the game was on if on steam you may need to check what steam is doing with the controller as steam has its own controller stuff in the client too, so may need to check there too.

Did you update Ayaspace to version 2.5.0.12 ? The way to check the version is to hold down Ayaspace button get to the main Ayaspace page and click the top left hamburger button, which will show a left side menu with power off at bottom and just above that is the version number you have installed.

If you get double inputs with the external controller for any reason you can go to this option in Ayaspace and turn off this feature too as it is on by default:-

eGc96L7.jpeg

Either that or make sure "desktop layout" is disabled in steam settings to avoid double input.

I do have the latest version.

Tried a few settings in a Ayaspace and steam, but didnt help. Maybe I'll try a different game. A bit annoying!
Is there no way to disable the build in joycon?

There is, you can turn off the built in one from the right side ayaspace options, one click ayaspace and at bottom of the controller shaped icon menu there is an option to turn the built in controller off or on.

If the option is not there on the right hand side ayaspace controller menu, then go down to quick assistant option under the controller and add the disable controller option to the controller section.

click ayaspace button→ quick assistant → add more → disable controller

They are instock now, but showing 17 in black and 20 in white.

I'm guessing a bunch were pre-ordered, that happened last two times before, so grab one now while you can before people realise they are back in stock with the free bundle as this is last chance now for the free bundle from what I understand, my work mates just grabbed some too when they came in stock.

I have not mentioned on the other forums yet and places they are back as last time I did that they vanished right away too, so going to give you guys a chance at one before letting other places know and have a few more work mates that may want one too and just not in the office yet.. :rolleyes: So time to message them before they vanish as they were the ones that wanted one for sure and were annoyed they were out of stock all the time.

Still trying to justify that I'll get enough use from it to warrant the expense, but figured with the bundle I won't lose too much if I come to sell it, so have ordered one and should be here tomorrow.

Was still showing 17 black left until I checked out so not selling through as quick as we may have feared!

15 left now black and 20 19 white.. Just wait till people get home and check or get email notifications stocks are back if they set that up. I give them 3-4 days max and all will be gone.

There you go all the bundle versions on the Antec store have gone and now listing the devices on their own now for £699 for the 32GB & 2TB SSD and the 16GB & 512GB SSD for £499, so once the UK retailer that has the 32GB & 2TB SSD bundles with £150 free accessories for £549.99 sells out of the bundles they will be £699 for the device only.

So be quick, I've still not hinted elsewhere they are available in stock again to give you guys a chance to get one if you want one. 19 white and 15 black left.. Over half of the 70 have gone already. Also one of the white ones has my name on it :cry:.

I got a feeling this deal has ruined Antecs chances of selling it at £699, the units won't sell so my prediction is the deal is back for xmas to sell through the remaining stock.

Also I gotta ask @Purgatory do you work for the other E-Retailer or do you get a cut of every sale lol :P

They should be giving me a cut as I spent a lot of time since I got the device supporting their customers (@Ace Modder wink wink :cry: goodie bag maybe ? :D ) and letting people know that wanted one they were back in stock a few times now, to the point last time I lost out on grabbing a white one after getting my black one, yesterday I grabbed a Legion Go too, as I'm planning on using that as my emulation device now and the two Antecs one will be a portable pc gaming device and other (the white one) I think so far I will use as my test Linux system for Steam OS like features and other Linux builds.

Just trying to get the Autumn/Winter hobbies ready over the cold period as we always get stuck at home then, so also trying to enjoy any of the nice weather for now till then, then the big dive into these devices.

Did you get one in the end too an Antec or the Legion Go ? I honestly still think the Antec Core HS/ AyaNeo Slide is one of the best true handhelds for its performance and features in the right handheld device size out of all the devices I have purchased, tested and returned or just had a play with that other people owned. The Legion Go is really a tablet to me with controllers bolted on and that's where it also has its appeal as it can be used for more than a gaming device due to the larger screen and more of a Microsoft Surface type device to me. It's nice and now own one and waiting for the 2TB SSD for it today and will get that in and have a real play with it, last time I tried one was threw a work mate that had one and he has now got one of the Antecs too after trying mine out when I took it into the office and a bunch of others in the office that use gaming handhelds agree it's a good device at a good price point with high end features and specs.

Yeah I bought a Legion go couple of weeks back, I got my order in for the Antec it's coming tomorrow, I'm going to be using the Legion for home use while the Antec will be the outside portable one.

Looking forward for it to arrive and have a good play about with it.

Good stuff you will appreciate having both devices as they both really play a different role and why I decided in the end on both of them out of all the devices out there, they are the best of the bunch right now and only other one I would add is the Steam Deck OLED if you want just a more simple device and no windows. Nothing else really beats these.

It's funny the Antec is 6"

The Steam Deck OLED is 7.4"

The Legion Go is 8.8"

All going up by 1.4" .... so maybe I/we should get the Steam Deck OLED too to fill that middle space size :cry: , if it goes on sale I may do that I still like the idea of one of them, just the OLED burn in issue put me off in recent days and the pure lack of grunt for emulation of higher end systems, but still a really good device from Valve and hoping a new update with a better SOC too and that will seal the deal for sure too.

Quick Edit,

As good as the Legion Go is, I've replaced the joysticks for tighter ones, Also I find the right thumbstick is slighty too low for my tumb in general, So if i'm playing any sort of FPS I just turn the controllers into FPS mode and connect my Xbox elite controller.

Which joysticks did you replace them with, I'm looking into the D-Pad replacement or a fix to make it better too, it's not as bad as I remembered it when testing but can still be improved if there is an easy none destructive way. I don't want to make any physical modifications that can't be undone back to stock or cutting bits out of the device like some people are doing. To me that messes up the device and destroys the warranty.

That was the reason I just got a 2TB 2230 with 2242 adapter for the legion go so that way not having to mod the back of the case to stick a 2280 in for now the mod is easy but while in warranty I would rather keep it stock and make sure no issues with the device out of the box first then in the future I will do that mod if I need a 2280 with larger capacity NVME SSD, if I decide to keep it by then and not replace it with a new shiny device that fits that role better.

Will update later once I've had a chance to get some stuff installed and test it out :D

DPD did good today it seems, my 2TB SSD just appeared 5 minutes ago too :D and not had to chase them around like last time grrr .. Always scared when I see an expensive item is being delivered by them in recent times as the drivers are so lost around my area..

Read my first post on here regarding setting it up and other things, remember no need to flash the bios or firmware as all is new out of the box and just update windows and update AyaSpace inside AyaSpace, then update the AMD drivers inside the AMD Adrenalin graphics driver interface and you should be done, may need to tweak your controller settings but you will see by then and like I said any issues or questions this is the thread for that and here to help if needed and others here as owners will also help I'm sure.

Enjoy the unpacking it really is the best handheld unpacking and the minute you get the device in your hands and how solid it feels. :D

Had a little play earlier, impressed with the performance, although it did shred the battery pretty quickly under load. Also got hotter than I was expecting externally, but the CPU/GPU stayed nice and cool (mid 60s), so a very effective cooling solution!

It runs SkaterXL perfectly at native res, although some mod maps will work it harder. That should get me through a few hospital visits without dying of boredom! (as long as I can find a spare plug socket :P )
Also ran Dirt 5 for a bit - using the in game resolution scaling, can't remember what other settings but looked pretty good (got about 20-25fps with settings cranked up more). Will have a play with FSR/RSR some time.

I've loaded up some more games so will take some time next week to form a solid opinion - I'm still not sure if the handheld life suits me, but at this price it seems like a relative bargain for the spec and build quality. (it's also quite heavy and chunky feeling, not as flimsy as I'd feared!)

Purgatory - I'll probably need some advice on the software stack side of it, I'll ping you when I reach that point....

Speaking of software - AMD driver 23.11 and W11 23H2 with a build number from July '24, haven't bothered updating stuff yet

Once you get use to it the battery life can be easily managed in AyaSpace as out of the box it is set very high, You will see what I mean when you get your head around it after a few days of tinkering and getting use to where everything is and how to set it, it's easy really and will surprise you how much better battery life you will get at probably the same performance levels you are seeing now and with much less heat too. Ohh the cooling is amazing on it for such a powerful small device and as you found out now, it is so well built and a solid device that feels like its worth its money and not some cheap toy.

Remember these cost over £1000 just for the device without the free bundle from Antec as the AyaNeo Slide and still sold for that as the Slide now and people still paying a lot more for them as Slides when they can get them, I know I wanted one but the price scared me when they got released from AyaNeo, you can check here that's the only place to get them in UK new :- https://droix.co.uk/product/aya-neo-slide/... get ready for the price shock and click between white and black version too.

Yes make sure to update windows totally and to update the AyaSpace and AMD drivers as you will get better performance and more features too..

Regarding you are not sure if handheld life suits you, it can always be docked and used as another windows pc too when not used as a handheld so multi use device or as a console in the living room plugged into the TV and a xbox controller or any windows controller you like. As you now noticed its worth its money and none of that buyers remorse feeling with it as it is a real bargain even if you use it rarely. Why I have 2 of them now as too good a deal to pass. :D
