Antec Kuhler 920 quick review.

920 arrived today and I have just sat it in place in the case and it seems to have enough clearance. Pipes look like they should be long enough too. *fingers crossed*

How does this compare to the h100 anyone got/tried both? Have seen a lot of people talking about the hxx liquid coolers but had literally not heard of these ones until i stumbled upon this thread?

Was gonna get a noctua but love the thought of these liquid ones for tidyness.

If you have the space.. i'd go with the Noctua personally. I went with this because I decided to get high rise RAM sticks, and couldn't find a Silver Arrow anywhere. Don't get me wrong it's a lovely bit of kit, but more to worry about lol.

How loud do you find it? Looked at some reviews n youtube clips and seems pretty audible.

It's really not that loud at all. Most of the time it's between 500 and 1000 rpm which is not loud at all. The loudest it's been at when I forced it to was about 1400 rpm and it was audible but nothing major at all.

2500RPM is just stupid noisy, but unless you have set a really daft custom setting or use the extreme setting to force it to 2500rpm, that's never gonna happen.

Compared to the silver arrow/noctua d14 I'm sure it's louder but nothing that would annoy you I suspect.

I'l put it like this... it's a LOT less noisy than an ATI/Nvidia Stock cooler would be in game and highly unlikely to pee you off like those do.

Yeah i get ya. not overly fussed on noise so long as its not too awful. Looks make up for it if i am gonna slap it in a 650D it would be nice to see inside the window not just see an enormous heatsink and nothing else lol.

I'm pretty sure it's quieter than my 212 with 2 sickleflow fan's at 2000rpm.

There will probably be some initial gurgling when you first use it, not to worry, just the air from transportation working it's way out :-)

Put in the 560Ti today. Temps have risen by about 5 degrees C (eek!). Was on silent mode when I noticed the liquid temp at 40 degrees C lol. I must admit, I didn't quite expect this, I thought it would be generating about the same amount of heat as the GTX 460 OC. They both vent into the case, so I didn't think it would be an issue.

EDIT: I might turn the fan's around.. but then it's blowing hot air into the case, and will probably screw the airflow up... choices choices lol.

Awesome review stulid dude, I have had one of these since they first came out. I had the 620 on pre-order and due to shipping issues the 920 was released so I paid the difference and got the big brother version :D

My specs are as follows;

Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard.
Intel Core i7 930 OC'd to 4GHz on stock voltages.
Antec 1200 gaming case.
Antec 850 TruePower PSU.
12GB Corsair XMS3 1600MHz DDR3 RAM.
Antec Khuler 920 with stock fans/thermal paste.

Now my machine has been on all night (at the time of this post) with nothing running but one small application. I now have Firefox v7.0.1 open along with MSN and here are some temps;

Hey guys. Finished my build at the weekend and a couple of pics are shown below. Nothing like as aesthetically pleasing as some of your builds but it will do me for now and to have a pc that is just stable and fast (goodbye crappy EVGA 680i!), I am more than happy.

Just have a few questions about the Antec though. I actually ended up putting a little more paste on than shown in the first pic so I hope that it ok. What had me pretty worried though is that setting up the back plate for the cooler was a breeze, as was fitting the front bracket on. My problems started when I tried to put the cooler head in place and twist into position. Basically the cooler head would not go in far enough for the lugs to fit under the bracket. I had to actually loosen all 4 screws to raise the bracket up enough to get it in position and then screw them back down. Now this does not seem at all right to me and I really don't want to do any damage.

When I fixed the backplate, I made sure I had put all the screw retainers in the right 1155 holes and then lined it up correctly so I really don't know what went wrong. Any ideas?

Yeah, I had to do EXACTLY the same thing. Was a complete pain in the arse, nowhere near as easy as they were making out. However, it will be fine, unless you think you squeezed/smeared the paste out the sides.

Nah I had to take it off a couple of times to get it right and when I checked how much was there, there was a nice round patch. Temps are 29°C-34°C at stock atm idle. Bear in mind that my 4870x2 is a pretty warm card but even that is now comfortably sitting at 55°C under load (with 3 Eve Online clients running).

Although a few said to stick with the TRUE, I think that moving the big bulk away from the cpu has freed up the airflow in the case and the air can now move upwards from the GPU.

Pretty happy overall :)

*EDIT* I was thinking about cable tying the Antec's power and usb cables to the right hand fluid pipe so they aren't hanging out like they are. That shouldn't cause any problems should it?

Unless you're squeezing the tube with the cable tie, it won't matter at all.

Managed to make mine cooler/quieter. I had somehow managed during the refitment of it to face the fans both towards the radiator LMAO. I'm suprised it was working so well! Now both blowing air out of the case and temps dropped 4-5 degrees to 35 on the liquid.

I might take a piccy later as I tidied my case up, used a ton of cable ties and fitted two green (unfortunately) sickleflows in place of my original gigabyte silent fans. Now they are noisy and don't look as good lol.

I wonder if my water sensor is a bit iffy then. Interestingly, my core temps sometimes read lower than the liquid temp.

I might try and hook up the apache's and run then full speed. (I know my case airflow isn't fantastic either to be honest.
