'Anti' Isalm cartoons....

Well, I looked at the cartoons at work the other day to see what all the fuss was about as I hadn't really been keeping up with the news. I've just been told this morning that someone saw me looking at them and has complained to their manager about me.

wtf?

Put them up on the notice board? :p

So what did your manager say?

I actually did think of printing some off and sticking them up :p

Not my manager as such(He's visiting tomorrow, no idea if he's been told) but he just said don't worry about it, which I wasn't. I just find it amazing someone could complain about something like this. But then, that's how these riots started I guess.

Hmmm interesting that is, would be interesting to see what the Jews and rest of the world think of this tbh. They do have a point though if u think about it, lets see how far we can push the boundaries of free speech.

I mean come on the Jews should have a sense of humour about it, so lets see what kinda uproar this causes.

But on a more serious note, i dont condone this sort of behaviour...its the last thing we need...inciting more religious tensions is not the way to resolve this whole scenario.

Why would anyone have a sense of humour about the mass extermination of people of any race, religion or creed ?
What possible humour is there in millions of deaths?
Is there anything funny about Hiroshima?
Please give me an example of a huge loss of death being a cause for amusement.

Don't give them ideas ;)

Speaking of placards, some of the protestors obviously didn't really think about what they wanted to say before putting pen to paper.....

Hmmm looks like the moderate muslim groups of the UK have finally spoken out, its what you guys been baying about...personally i think it was about time ....
Dunno if "baying" refers to me, but I did say a day or two back that I'd seen one Muslim group after another, and a number of individuals interviewed on TV, denounce the placards and the moron with the mock bomb-belt.

The silent majority has, in my view, kept a fairly low profile in the past but, I'm glad to say, this time is being pretty vocal in it's denunciations ..... and is also being extensively covered by the media doing so.

I also think it's a very good thing that they are.

No not meant to be directed at you, meant for others on here..they know who they are:p.

But yes its good that at least the media is giving some coverage to the moderate muslims who want this whole thing to finish off as its given us muslims as a whole a very bad image now...in fact i dont think our image has ever been good but now its got very bad.
Im just waiting for the day when the moderate muslims actually make front page news when they denounce these stupid acts by the extreme element of islam. But i wont hold my breath for that to happen anytime soon:p

On a side note, the only way that would happen is when such an event is shocking - and things would have to get a whole lot worse for the shocking even to be the condemnation by moderates rather than the action of extremists

Can someone explain to me why muslims, moderate and not, STILL think that everyone in the world is either a muslim or a bleeding jew? Is their world really that black and white?

Not sure if I know what you mean, but if you are asking why they have similar political views (generally) it might be because Islam encompasses political elements within its ideology

Yes. Islam = good. Anything else = pure evil. Jews especially so.

a bleeding jew?

What on earth does that mean?

If Muslims want to draw cartoons comparing Moses to a suicide bomber, draw away.
If Muslims want to draw cartoons of Jesus getting stroppy, draw away.
I have no issue with the cartoon of Anne Frank in bed with Hitler although I don't find it "funny" nor does it make any kind of political point.
But making a cartoon about 6 million innocent civilians being murdered is not "freedom of speech".

Lampoon ideas not terrible events. I've not seen cartoons making fun of the stampede deaths at the Hajj nor do I expect to.

I'm referring to the numerous "what would the jews think if we did "...etc - rather than picking the jews as another ethnic group it seems to almost be said in such a way as to suggest Jews were the "other side"

Todays pic :) This sums it up for me

10,000 moderates marching through London with "Extremists out" banners wouldn't just be front page it would be front page around the world.
You don't make the news by staying home mumbling.

i think that bluntly speaking, all religions should live and let live. Freedom of speech is what millions of our forfathers and our kin have fought and died for. Freedom of speech is the priniciple on which western civilization is built. Those cartoons while possibly offensive to those who find them offensive, should not be banned, should not be removed they should be posted, as the world we live in allows such like to be posted, and as Voltaire once said

"I dissapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

this is for all sides and all religions as without respect for oneself and eachother regardless of creed, colour or religion we may as well be back in the dark ages.

........... with respect I think everyone should get a sense of humour and take this as it was meant and intended.
