Any bad drivers here?

Did you join every other old mondeo owner out there and fix your back bumper with duct tape? :D

My MK1 had colour coded duct tape!

I left it as it was until someone was kind enough to drive into the back of it and make an even bigger mess so that the insurance company wrote it off :D.

When I passed my driving test years ago I was with some friends in Harrow trying to turn right at a no right junction, don't ask why. This involved driving on the wrong side of the road as there was an island in the middle of the road for 15 odd yards. Anyway first few times I pulled out but a car came so reversed back, next time I reverse, thud, straight into a 2CV. No damage so we went on our way.

Same car, my dads MKII Escort 1.3 GL (yep go on and weep :)) this was a company car and at the time he hadn't added me to the insurance but I used to "take" the car when he went to sleep. One night on the hanger lane gyratory, carved my way from the inside to an exit except the guy in the Cortina clipped the back of my car, 1 360 later and after seeing the mess I **** myself. Anyway my dad was as nice as hell about it, he got a lot of crap from work also but they somehow managed to add me to the insurance which I suppose saved me, something that I'll never forget.

Lastly, after just passing my test I couldn't quite gauge the distance of my car with parked cars when turning left, if I remember rightly I think I clipped the rear wheel arch of my dads Escort around 3 times on parked cars when turning left.

:) Im guessing he shouldn't have had is girlfriend in the car at the time and thats why it was all dropped.

yep probably wasn't insured to carry anyone else.

worst thing I've done in a car is probably clipped wig mirrors with a nice BMW coming the other way. Cars parked on either side, neither of us had right of way, neither of us would relent. We just clipped wing mirrors, both pulled over, he then drove of which I'm more than happy about, wouldn't want a 50/50 claim for a silly thing like that. Popped the glass back in and it was all fine.

I've been driving six months, so I'm better than I was than I started but I fully appreciate I've still got room for improvement. I'm not bad by any means though (I hope). Only stupid thing I've done was a couple of months ago, when I reversed out of my parking space at home too quickly, and not having checked my mirrors properly, didn't notice the Volvo in a space behind me. No damage done to the Volvo (I left a note nonetheless), but put a crack in the top of my rear bumper, which is very annoying. Felt very stupid and it's definitely taught me not to get cocky.

i can't parallel park for ****, it's not like i have to do it all the time and fail it's that i never have to do it so i'm out of practice. i also dont reverse park very often as i find it quicker just to go straight in yet i can comfortably reverse park a 2.5 ton truck into a tiny car port lol

I`m rubbish at front parking, so I tend to reverse park everywhere :p

I also get lanes wrong a lot (better now, but london can be a nightmare). Thankfully everytime a someone has let me in! I then spend the rest of the day be extra nice to other drivers!

Been driving since october, and definitely getting smoother at driving and better at judging things!

I drive way too fast on roads i dont know, i get annoyed be people doing 55 in 60s and HAVE to overtake them, even when it isnt particularly safe to do so... Ive only been driving 16months and have a too powered car, im going to end up banned or dead, i just hope i dont take anyone else with me when i does happen. Also i cannot park, i always have 2 attempts, no matter what kind of bay/street im parking on, first time attempt is always either a foot out or alloy crunchingly close.

On the positive side, i havent and never will drink drive and i never speed in built up areas.

My car does tend to allow me to drive hard at all times, in fact it seems to encourage it... The brake and geo work ive had done has saved my life a few times, im sure of it.

I think i'm generally fairly good. I like to anticipate where I'm going and plan ahead. I would say i do drive fairly agressively. I behave myself, and try to drive smoothly when driving with passengers though, and tend to be more aggressive when driving alone.

My weaknesses are driving too fast, it has been known for me to do over the limit in 30's but then I don't exaclty live in a built up area so its probably slightly more excusable than blasting around town. I do like to push on fairly fast on B roads, but I don't think excessively so.

Been driving for over four years now, and touch wood only had one incedent, which was knocking a poor lad off his scooter, while pulling out of a parking space, thankfully he was fine, and his bike only had a few scratches. That was a few months after i first passed. I know I improved a lot after that. My awareness, and observation improved a lot since then.

Edit, have a clean licence as well.
I'm not the greatest passenger, I dislike being driven by some of my friends, mostly because they drive a lot too fast, i'm often pressing the imaginary brake pedal. And partly because of their lack of awareness and rash decision making.

Never caused an accident, not knowingly anyway :p

Been in one or two but more often than not I've been caught speeding. Having said that, my last 3 points was 3 years ago so I'm almost on a clean licence.

A few weeks ago I was driving along a 30mph straight road and signalled to turn right. A bus was waiting to turn out so I let him out and assumed because he could get out I'd be fine to quickly nip straight across after him (as I had looked before the bus pulled out and it did look clear), only to just about get across in time as a 3 series sped past and must have been doing about 50-60.

I should have just waited and looked tbh even if he was speeding.

i was coming out of a t junction somewhere near barcelona, it was in the countryside, the road was clear sighted and i turned on to the wrong side of the road. ooops.

i drive faster than the speed limit sometimes too. i was driving in lane 2 on a dual carriageway, passing a land rover in lane 1, for some reason he wanted to pass the car ahead of him, he indicated to change lane but i didnt want to be stuck behind him so i didnt slow down.

him indicating didnt give him a right to change lane, it indicates his intention. when i kept my foot in and just passed him he got upset, but then he was driving a 4x4 so had to be a window licker

I'm probably one of those drivers that cut you up at a junction, and I may have come quite close to you on the road, but it wasn't unplanned, and you likely overreacted to it :)
