Any opinions on o2 broadband?

Seems O2 operate a all peak time usage rather then on/off peak. Makes them useless for me sadly.

Easily use around 100-200gb off peak.
Operate a what?

You can do 100-200GB off peak, on peak, any time you want. You could double that, triple that, you could multiply that monthly amount by 10 and probably still get away with it. For all intents and purposes the service is unlimited.

Ok now im confused, who's right here? :)
Me.

The other poster is kind of on the right track in that the service is better "when using their own gear", but seems to think unbundled means that's not happening, when in fact it's the other way round.

It always makes me laugh when I read all these different limits that O2/Be* supposedly have, I sometimes wonder who makes up these numbers. :)

Ah ok, excuse my ignorance I’m not particularly clued up on all the technical in's and outs of adsl etc. :) Well O2 option 3 looks appealing to me with 12 month contract.

Gonna sign up to 02 simplicity and hopefully get my sim by friday, I dont yet have a mobile too try the sim so does anyone know if ill have any issues signing up to 02 broadband before mondays quidco deadline?

Just got back from the O2 shop. I went into buy an iPhone and to find out more about the BB.

I've signed upto the Standard Package as I can't get more than 8M on my line. The real bonus was a FREE 16GB iPod Touch. Yes, FREE :)

How come you got the Touch? Is there an offer on at the moment?

I'm on 12 months free broadband from o2 :)
Signed up a few months back, switching from Be*. Not bad for the same service!

Went in to get an iPhone and enquired about BB. I said I was interested but would come back another day... The O2 salesman then said "If you sign up now hows about a free 16GB iPod Touch"

I signed up :)

He said it was mainly because I'd bought an iPhone but could do it just on BB signup if I sent them directly to him.

AS long as you have all your details eg your log in to o2. you can sign up to thier BB.

I did.

Gutted the quidco deadline is Monday, my BT line isn't going to be activated until Wednesday, no BT line means I can't order O2 :(

That is a good result, did you have any extension cables on before? Have you ever tried disconnecting the ring or star wire as explained in guides to increase the speed?

Ring wire has never been connected. Only things I had in before were the normal master socket faceplate and a seperate adsl filter, so now its effectively running through two less connections. Based on the attenuation for my line and the distance from exchange, 11.5mb is spot on, so im pretty happy with it.

Cool I just ordered one.

For £13 even if it doesn't increase my speed it will still be more tidy without the filter plugged in.

Cool cheers just checked and got my login and o2 sim due tommorow, got the number already so not gonna waste anymore time fiddling around just gonna sign up now.

Aint even got my mac code from Ukonline yet lol but hopefully can process all without it.

So im thinking of getting 02 broadband, either the premium or Pro package, i was wondering what the big differences was between the two packages? apart from the max upload, optional static IP and is the a big difference between the type of router you get with each package? as they both show up to 20MB max download speed.

Ive just heard it takes 3-5 days for an ISP to generate mac codes.... gonna phone ukonline later on but looks like missed the 70 quid quidco offer again !

I thought mac codes werent needed straight away :(

not too happy with them at the moment, on the home contract so i know BT are involved as well, but i've been getting congestion problems since november, when o2 said that work on the exchange would be getting done on January 11th.

contacted them on the 11th, nope been postponed til the 14th, on the 14th sorry sir the only exchange work we can see is 31st march 2010, tried explaining that was the 21cn work, did they plan to do anything about my congestion problems, did they sod .

I'd love to be able to switch from Virgin Media to O2, but doing so would get me hit with a £130 reconnection charge from BT and tied into an 18 month contract with them too. :(

You've listed the main differences. You gain the extra upload at the expense of a little bit of download bandwidth, so unless you really need that upload you'll probably prefer the Premium service (Annex M vs Annex A).

The router is a Wireless N version of the Thomson box supplied with the other packages. Early days so doesn't seem to be any feedback on how well it performs.
