Hello.

Basically I am due an upgrade soon and I am thinking of getting a Desire.

Can anyone give me a good reason not to get one? :)

From what I have read so far, it is the way to go.

Thanks.

The Nexus One is cheaper if you're buying outright, but seeing as you're upgrading I'm guessing that won't bother you :p Besides, unless you're on Vodafone you won't get the choice to upgrade to a Nexus :(

As above, X10 is well overdue on Orange and Vodafone if you're looking for something different, but I'd be going with the Desire in your position tbf.

As someone with a Nexus running the Desire ROM I can confirm that Sense on an 800x480 AMOLED screen looks slick :)

Without question this is the best of the next gen bunch.. With every other phone coming out over the next month or so, there is a feature or two missing. Whether that be not running android 2.1, no multitouch, no snapdragon. etc.. the HTC Desire has everything!!

The only alternative that competes is the Nexus One, but the HTC Desire has a better external design (IMO) than the Nexus. The buttons and optical mouse pad are more desirable than the Nexus!!

Thats not strictly the case about the price. I just ordered a Desire for £370. The Nexus one is currently the same price with shipping , then add 17% vat and possible import duty your going to be paying over £400.

The only reason to not to get the Desire in my mind is if you work in noisy conditions and need noise cancelling that the Nexus one has.
I prefer to have real buttons , fm radio so waiting for the desire.

As mentioned in my post.. no multitouch, runs droid 1.6 rather than 2.1 otb... no radio, less ram... just few things that make the HTC much more diserable...

The Xperia X10 is still a great product and it looks great..

And the fact that it's limited to 16GB SD cards!!

I've mentioned this in the Xperia thread, but I still can't quite believe they've done this. It's annoying as I was all set to ask VF for the X10 as my upgrade until I noticed that.

Now I guess I'll wait for the Desire. Or possibly the Nexus One. Can't quite decide.

The 16GB SD card limit doesn't bother me, as i current have a iPhone 3GS 16GB with plenty of apps and music on. How much music, videos and pictures do you want?

32GB would do, I reckon.

I have 16GB already on my Omnia and am still wanting more space.

I like to put all of my music on my phone now and use it as my primary music player. That's 16GB just of music, ideally - though I only have around 8GB on my phone atm due to lack of space.

I stick all my pictures on there, too. Too many photos of the kids to bother sorting through and keeping up-to-date with the ones I want so I just keep them all synced. Nice to have them backed up on a portable device, too. That's another few GB.

I'd also like to use the document viewer/editor for work on the go. That'll be another gig or so of work files.

Then there's apps, the odd tv series, video clips, podcasts and downloaded lectures, the odd movie...

For something that's going to be a music player, portable video player, mobile work device, etc, I'm amazed 16GB is enough for anyone these days.
