Any reason not to get a HTC Desire?

afaik the T-Mobile handsets will be branded and locked, the MPD ones are unbranded unlocked handsets, you just get the appropriate sim card for your tarrif.

Yet another reason not to get it from T Mob it seems. In fact, the only reason I see is if you're trying to get it as an upgrade...

Tethering is a nice feature for emergencies when I'm on site. Any idea when the Nexus will be officially launched?

Looking for a phone upgrade 3rd May.

Upgrade on which network? Looks to only launch on Vodafone some point in April, so you might need to upgrade to something like the Desire, then flog it, and put £410 into importing a Nexus from google.com/phone Delivery will be 3 working days normally :) Might even turn a profit from that if you're lucky :)

I'm on O2 (IPhone) but don't mind changing to a different operator. The business will buy it so I won't be able to chop and change.

I'm a little confused about mobilephonesdirect.

If I order through them do I get the 3GB net bandwidth or just the standard 1GB? Also, why are people ordering through that site if it's cheaper to go through tmobile directly?

To be on the safe side I'd assume you only get 1GB, but if you get it from there then call and check when you receive it, then report back, I'm on a T mobile rolling sim only, and would happily sign 18 months of my life away for and extra 2GB p/m so long as it doesn't cost me any more than it costs me atm :)

I thought it was cheaper on mobilephonesdirect. T Mobile will do it on cheaper contracts, but its only a free phone on a £35 p/m contact :o Whereas that site does it on a £25 iirc

Cancelled my order for a T-Mobile contract.

Pretty sure I want this phone, but not too happy with T-Mobiles 3g coverage in brum.

I go to the University of B'ham, and I was on T-Mobile. I never got any signal in town, at uni, in Selly Oak, and at home home which is like 8 miles away.

I wouldn't recommend T-Mobile :)

I'm phoning O2 up tonight and asking for a PAC code.

Can't believe they're getting it so much later than T-Mobile.

Why on earth they went for exclusivity on the crap Palm Pre, shares in Palm dipped ~17% on the back of the poor performance of Pre sales. Most of the handsets they've shipped are left in retail.

Would love to meet the idiot at O2 who signed up to the Palm Pre - I could have taken one look at the phone and told you it wasn't going to sell, especially on O2.

Wasting their time on crap smart phones like the Pre, not enough time spent on getting the HTC Desire and the like in.

How did this go? I have similar feelings and was wondering if they made you a nice offer or anything...

She said the Desire was coming to O2 on the 29th April.

Told her this caused inconvenience for me as my contract ends on the 19th April and didn't want to enter into a new one, not even a rolling 30 day one as it could cause hassle - usually would have to cancel and then apply for the Desire contract and get the number ported over.

So she's done the following for me: Changed my current iPhone 35 tariff to a £20 p/m one with:

  • 1200 texts
  • 600 mins
  • Unlimited data + Wifi
  • Visual voice mail

So when it comes to the Desire being launched, I'm going to ask I stay on the same contract features for £20 p/m and pay the handset cost for what ever the £20 p/m Desire tariff is when released on O2.

If they say no, I say "PAC code please" :)
