Any reason not to get a HTC Desire?

Wow, that is a lot of replies. Thanks.

Actually, I am on Vodafone, but I prefer the Desire to the Nexus One anyway.

I do like it in Silver though, but I doubt Vodafone will stock it. :(

Guess I will be with Desire as soon as they come out. :)

Thats not strictly the case about the price. I just ordered a Desire for £370. The Nexus one is currently the same price with shipping , then add 17% vat and possible import duty your going to be paying over £400.

The only reason to not to get the Desire in my mind is if you work in noisy conditions and need noise cancelling that the Nexus one has.
I prefer to have real buttons , fm radio so waiting for the desire.
Personally I have a preference for the nexus one, due to the definite upgrades from google) but am waiting on the official UK release (with vodafone) so I can see how much it will sell for, if it's the same as it is now I'll just buy the desire as it's cheaper and turn off sense (hate sense on android see no point in it) and flash the firmware myself when needed :)

I prefer the look of the nexus one, I like the second speaker and the accessories (if they ever get released) before anyone wonders why :)

I'm loving the look of the desire, its an Hero without the ugly chin. I'm due an upgrade / new phone pretty soon so will definately be in the consideration list. Does anyone have confirmed dates for the Vodafone launch?

Without question this is the best of the next gen bunch.. With every other phone coming out over the next month or so, there is a feature or two missing. Whether that be not running android 2.1, no multitouch, no snapdragon. etc.. the HTC Desire has everything!!

The only alternative that competes is the Nexus One, but the HTC Desire has a better external design (IMO) than the Nexus. The buttons and optical mouse pad are more desirable than the Nexus!!

I guess you have yet to read about the HTC Incredible then http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/53623-htc-incredible-specs-evergreen.html :D

whats missing from the x10 ? it has everything aswell as the 8mp camera which SE usually do well and HTC usually fail at

epic lol.

Yeah im interested in when the vodafone launch date is too, im due an upgrade in about 2 weeks so i would like to get one of these.... All i know is that its due April? Anyone have any inside info?! :)

Been waiting to hear from Vodafone for a while now.

People in the service centres don't seem to know much about it.

Called them last week and they said they knew nothing about it. See it announced on The Register the next day. :)

My only concern is how much they are going to want for it and on what tariff I am going to have to go on.

The Incredible that's also rumoured to be the Supersonic, neither of which comes in a GSM flavour of yet? So you can't make voice, 2G or 3G connections with them in the UK, but that's ok, because it has 4G.... Oh wait, the UK doesn't have a 4G network, just a couple of trial areas.... :p

It may be 4G, but its way ahead of us here, to the point where its unusable, making the X10/Nexus/Desire the best "next-gen" handsets about :)

Those are the 3 phones to choose between until July-August when the new iPhone is released and WM7S starts shipping

The incredible will be in europe before the new iphone is released, id put a greasy fiver on it. :p

And the fact that it's limited to 16GB SD cards!!

After abit of diging around I believe there is neither SW nor HW limits for 16 GB. As history has shown, these limits only specifies what SE has been able to test with at the time of publication, not what the device is actually capable of (sometimes bigger cards have not been available to test with).

This is typical of HTC - the minute I actually like the look of one of their phones they go and annouce another meaning I'm torn between the two!

I'm due an upgrade with voda, can i phone now and pre order it?

Any other questions anyone want me to ask when i phone up?

Will be phoning them tomorrow.

You could phone, not sure how far you will get. :)

Like I said before, the only thing that interests me is how much it is going to cost.

Ah. That is useful info, mate. Cheers. I will keep an eye on this. If it was to transpire that the X10 could take 32GB SD cards, it would be my upgrade choice without a doubt.

It also doesn't have an AMOLED screen.

AMOLED screen are no that good in direct sunlight, i know as i used to have a Samsung Jet and that was border line unsable in direct sunlight. However, the new Samsung Super AMOLED seem to have fixed this problem :)
