Any reason not to get a HTC Desire?

I think i'm going for a T-Mobile contract:

£129.99 for phone, £20 contact, 18 months (300 minutes, free text, free internet)

Totals at = £489.99. The phone is retailing at around £430 which means i'm basically paying £3.33 a month for the contract, which in any respect is AMAZING!
WHERE? :D

I want to get the one from mobilephonesdirect, but http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews168318.html puts me off a bit!

The t-mobile website only has one £35 tariff up at the moment too.

That's an awesome deal. I'm currently on 20/month simplicity but don't really use much/any of it, so I'd be just paying 130 straight off, then the same tariff and instead of 600/unlimited/no internet, be getting 300/300/internet. Seems fair to me :D

All the 'smartphone' tarrifs get unlimited internet as standard, so you still get a flexible booster. Most likely you'll want the unlimited texts one.

Anyone know if Tethering is supported on the Desire?

Doubtful as standard, doubt the mobile networks would be too happy if anyone could tether as and when they please :p It'll be one of the first things implemented when root access is obtained for the device no doubt. If its vital either get a Nexus or wait until root is obtained and tethering is implemented :)

Very well put.

Configurability (is that even a word?) is one of the main reason I want an Android phone.

There's that, and then the cornucopia of possibilities that rooting your phone can unlock. Installing new, custom built versions of Android with special features and improved performance gets you mega geek points :D

It is cool though - if you like to tweak your PC, you'll love tweaking Android.

It may be locked, but you can call and get it unlocked free of charge. All carriers do this free of charge now. I think it may be the law.

It's listed on the HTC website as a feature.

Haha, oh god, the P800 was awesome big blue bubbly thing. I had that then the P900 :)

I'm sure the branding could be removed with some nail polish remover also :)

Tethering is a nice feature for emergencies when I'm on site. Any idea when the Nexus will be officially launched?

Looking for a phone upgrade 3rd May.
