Anyone else disappointed with progression of Car Interiors?

Heh, it's not quite as blocky as the real Terminal, and has a teeny bit more flair. Not much, but a little bit :D

I was in a Jag dealers the weekend before last and spent quite a bit of time in the F-Type. The interior seemed to have been improved from the early one I sat in, felt it was up there this time around, good quality, looked and felt better. Have they upped the spec/materials/build?

i think steam power may be the way to go. horses are just too slow, but with steam power, you are literally rollin' coal and killing maximum polar bears. Also pressure gauges and shoveling coal is much more manly than sitting back in your heated/cooled leather seat, while it feels your aback and you poke your touch screen to change tracks on your Taylor swift album.

see the problem with steam power is those 6 hour starting times, people just wont accept that in this modern day and age, sure it's the king of polluters i dont doubt that and the low down torque for overtakes is very good for those long motorway commutes but i preferr something good for quick hops to the shops and backfiring for maximum peasant scaring potential :D

I've thought this for a while. My Prius is a piece o' crap to drive but for my money the interior beats most new cars and it's 10 years old!

One recent innovation I have been impressed with though is HUD.

Really can't agree with above, the Prius interior is a horrific sea of cheap feeling bland plastic.

I couldn't wait to get out of the last one i went in.

This. Many times over.

Prius interiors were designed by someone desperate to be different. Formlessness inhibiting function all the way.

It looks like someone made a dash out of a sheet of ply sprayed black, and then inset lots of premium looking switches, buttons and screens. Much like most lorry interiors. :p

Functional, modern and tactile, but not 'pretty' or sleek, elegant, etc

The photos don't do it justice believe me, for a truck it's very sleek and clean and arguably elegant, pretty? I doubt many truckers put that high on the list of priorities but I feel no think it's ugly either.

Given the average trucker spends more time in a truck in a week than most car drivers do in months, the dash has to be a good design and easy to get in with, I'd far rather a long journey in a truck than a car as they are simply built to keep the driver comfortable for hours, day in, day out - 9hours per day extendable to 10hours driving twice per week - the ergonomics are superb in this new model as a recent mooch over one showed me.

Another thing, yes it has lots of switches but the difference with similar multi button car dashes is the HGV ones serve useful purposes....

Not likely you'll get the chance to sit in one I suppose but we're you to do so, I think you'd be surprised just how premium car like it looks in there.

I think the interior of my truck is really nice.[/img]
That's pretty good, yeah!

All you anti-touch screen luddites are stuck in the past.
Plenty better things to have than a touchscreen... especially when they start getting fussy about the inputs. Buttons don't generally have that issue.
If you're gonna put a big-ass screen on my dash, I want it square and with illuminated buttons all around it, like an aircraft MFD...
As with some other walks of life, people are putting 'the latest' stuff in these things just because, rather than the best stuff because it works the best.

Like taskmaster I like 90s jap interiors I.e rx7, supra, 300zx etc pleasing to the eye but also functional and you're immersed as if in a cockpit.
You get me!!
Wanna be my new wife? The current model isn't really up to spec in that respect!!

I go to chose Radio 4 and end up dealing my mum.
What is the current street value of a parental unit these days, anyway...?
I've got some similar product I'd like you to move for me... :D

Rather have a big touch screen and a fairly minimalist interior than a million buttons. Though there is room for both. However, if the technology used has a poor UI/UX its going to suck. From what I have tried on the Tesla its pretty decent.

It looks like a 2003 Saab.

Haha not quite. :D

That was my initial thought too, before I saw those pictures of the actual Saab interior...

I actually quite like that Scania interior now. Its premium looking, with a functional layout. But it does still have the look of a big slab which has had various car modules set into it.
