Anyone else getting subscription burnout?

Got

Spotify (single account)
Prime
Apple TV
Disney+
Youtube Premium
Sometimes Netflix
Google Drive - This one I can justify as replacement to the NAS. I used to replace one of the mirrored drives every 2 years staggered, to prevent total loss. This was getting more expensive than extra google drive space.
Also it gives me loads more photo storage.

I'd happily bin off the TV license, but the other half and kid love Strictly/Masked Singer/Dancer type stuff.

Getting rid of 1 or 2 doesn't really save much in the grand scheme of things, so I just keep them going for the choice it gives.

Prime, family spotify, family 365 are the main ones. We lease both cars, so I guess that's 2 subscriptions. I pay sky £5 pm just to retain a q box. I need to come up with an alternative to this at some point.

Oh and for some reason I subscribe to which? even though I don't read it and only look at the best buys once in a blue moon. I have tried to cancel but they keep me on with free/half price for a while. One day I will be strong.

People in genpop have computers these days?

Apple One plus a couple of pounds for more storage space. That’s iCloud, Apple Music, Apple TV plus backups for many Apple devices so it’s good value for me.
Amazon Prime cause I use Amazon all the time. TV is a nice extra benefit
Disney+ but this will be junked in a couple of months. Absolute rubbish these days
YouTube Premium for FailArmy
Tidal because I got it cheap
PC Pro magazine (paper edition) cause it’s still a good read

Netflix was dumped recently because it’s just too expensive and shows nothing of interest
Id have thought people on these forums at least would have their own servers/NAS boxes and be hosting their own cloud storage at the least, I am genuinely surprised by it.

The world has gone mad with subscriptions.....I recently read that some BMW's with installed heated seats now require you to to pay for a subscription to actually use them?!?!

iCloud storage is cheap(ish), easy to use and reliable. Personally I've too many photos to risk placing them on a NAS/ personal cloud. I want something like that to just work and work without me having to remember to do anything. It’s extremely convenient too!

They tried to do it, and walked back after public backlash. They dropped the requirement in 2023.

I am not keen on multiple subscriptions.

We have

Spotify
Netflix
Google 1
One drive

I'm thinking of ditching Netflix and rotating between the streamers.
I'm thinking of ditching one drive now have Google 1.
Not keen on paying for Spotify myself but gf uses it a lot.

Thats it really.

Common subs we don't have.
Prime
TV licence
Sky tv
Car lease
Any gaming stuff

I don't hate subscriptions per se.
Some make sense. Music, screen. I just wish tv landscape wasn't so fractured. There's less and less great stuff on TV streamers now. A lot is medicore, poor, or cancelled.

Can't get on board with car leasing. My brain just won't accept it's a good use of money.

Wearing an eye patch and using Plex negates a lot of them. Valve fixed this for PC gaming so would be nice if a company could solve the movie/TV mess we have with 10+ subscriptions needed. I'm not going to spend well over £100/month just because companies can't work together and put everything under one umbrella.

Spotify family cos 2 teenage girls
Youtube Premium
Office 365

3 is enough for me

I use revanced for YouTube. It is amazing.

We use something called stremio now. It blew my mind.

Totally agree.
I'd happily pay more than I do for my Netflix for an umbrella subscription to all the streamers. None of them are worth it now. And even worse. Because they are fighting over customers now, each one puts out more and more dross.. Because they have to have a large enough volume of content.

If you get value i.e prime it's worth it. I pay Spotify because there's no way I could replicate with manual behaviour.

Netflix you can pirate but it's in indispensable for the kids.

Yt premium is the only pure luxury on that list imo. And surely OneDrive and iCloud can be rationalised or is that apple tax?
Yeh pirate......... why boast about that?

My biggest bugbear with TV streaming services in particular is how expensive some of them are getting just to be able to watch a selection of their library in 4K/UHD. Disney+ charges an extra £4 over their standard tier, Netflix charges an extra £7 which is ludicrous. It puts me off subscribing to any of them at all.

I'd also imagine the heated seats were optional extras in the car!
I believe the idea was that all cars would have the equipment, but you'd have to pay to activate it.
