Anyone else just unenthused about gaming and hardware?

Same for me, I have little interest in upgrading now due to the high prices and due to lack of game development for PC. I've had my MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4GB for close to 3 years now and am happy with it, it copes fine with all my games on high/ultra on 1080p, and I really cant be bothered to spend 600-700 bucks for a slight upgrade with a few more FPS. Maybe the next gen of GPUs will make it worth the upgrade and then maybe its worth upgrading monitor too for 4K gaming, so thats something I am looking forward to but for now just biding my time.

I've pretty much given up on PC gaming, nothing of late has kept my interest for more than a couple of hours and I found myself playing older titles that didn't need the grunt so I sold my 1080ti before it plummets when the next cards land. I may come back to it at some point but at the minute I felt it wasted to keep up with the latest hardware.

I've always been interested in hardware and still am, however being interested in hardware to me is different to owning it. I've never felt the need to own the highest end hardware ever.

High prices have stopped me from looking into new hardware. I sold my 290x a few weeks back for £235 and using a 6950 which is doing fine for cs:go which is what I'm only playing atm.

Exactly how I feel.

Overclocked 290/i2500K combo is doing a fine job at 1080p and I can't bring myself to spend £1K to get another 10-15 fps.

Haven't considered 4K due to the issues/prices I read about on here regarding 4K monitors.

Upgraded to a 1080ti for VR. Also upgraded my monitors and nice to get a working multi-monitor set-up. If it wasn't for VR I'd be equally unenthused and would have stuck with my R9 290.

Hard to believe Fallout 4 came out in 2015. I was sitting playing it the other night with 200 hours played. I can't remember the last time I spent so much time enjoying and playing a game outside of MMO's.

Skyrim probably :p

Would be nice if Nvidia did more than think about themselves. Investing more time working with developers would be a good start.

Had this discussion a lot with friends for months, pc gaming is absolute garbage at the moment. Rubbish unoptimised games and ridiculously over priced hardware has put a real dampener on things for us.

I've even found myself getting more excited to play ps4 pro on a 4k hdr with my wife than I am playing anything at 1440p 144hz on freesync. Never thought I'd say that a year ago.

1325hrs and counting for 'The Division' here :D

Tbf I've *never* enjoyed a game so much! Or hammered one like it

I've been gaming on PS4 looked at GPU prices recently and can't believe the prices, it doesn't help that AMD don't have any high end competition yet but even they're getting in on the price gouging with RX580.

Why blame AMD - the miners are paying silly money for cards,so all the retailers and suppliers have put up prices and you seem to ignore that the GTX1060 and GTX1070 prices have also gone up as the miners now are buying them too.

Also,Nvidia pre-empted AMD and started releasing a distinct version of their GP106 for mining,so looks like they have decided to join the price gouging bandwagon too:

Its called the P106 and AMD board partners have also released mining cards too based on Polaris 10 and 11.

Its on early access so technically in a beta form!! :p

After trying ARK on the same engine, and the fact it never really got fixed,it has put me off early access games sadly.

it's the number 1 game out right now. it even went number 1 for twitch streams for a short while too this month and is consistently at the top.

yeah it runs like poo but it's a great game with a lot of tactics as well as luck involved

Its UE4 based like ARK and games based on that engine have had issues, and ARK also had a lot of attention and still has a lot of players but is not actually had a proper release. The main issue with early access,is there is no guarantee it will be out of early access, and the ARK devs kept pushing out new add-ons,etc which you could buy instead of trying to get the game properly fixed.

A lot of my mates stuck with it longer than I did,but virtually all the enthusiasm they had for it has vanished and they stopped playing it.

It wouldn't normally be an issue(I bought KSP many years ago long before it was on Steam),but when these games are like £25 to £40 that is the price of a normal game. Sure you might save a few quid over getting it when it is released, but like I said ARK has put me off early access sadly.

Apparently the PUBG dev has said a Q4 2017 release,I might pick it up closer to that date if it seems the full release is happening.

Edit!!

I so wish that ME:A had been better, but after seeing the reviews of that and the unfinished nature of the game,it really was a disappointment.

There has never been a greater time to play PC games. Jadedness means you need to get off your butts and find the stuff that captures you. There are a LOT of games out there, so it's going to be hard... but it's well worth it.
