Anyone else not a big drinker?

I just don't drink alcohol, full stop. What is so strange about it?
nothing really its just the society we're in expects us to drink, heck even teenagers have a drink and its illegal :o

I like a bottle of beer with my dinner when I've had a hard day at work. I like relaxing outside the pub in summer with a cold pint. I enjoy a bottle or two of red with a meal.

And every now and then I like a good session of GETTING IT IN YOU :D

I do drink, but I'm trying not to drink as much, like not getting hammered etc, I don't even think that I should... Also I'm hoping that by not drinking I shall have enough money to buy a Wii sometime soon... as well as food.

ive not been a big drinker for a few years now, infact i could probably go teetotal without any bother.

I dont drink that much either.

Usually its only at social events, family gatherings etc.

Im 20 BTW.

Getting hammered every night just isnt my idea of fun.

What is it about this that is fun? I don't mind the odd night out but getting legless, avoiding taxi fares and then throwing up? Nah thanks.

I go out and get hammered, but always make sure to pay taxis and throwing up is not fun. Just needs to learn when to stop.

I don't drink alcohol at all, haven't touched a drop for a good 18-24 months now (somewhere in that region).

I used to have friends who would pressurise me to go drinking with them, however all they'd do is blow £100 on alcohol, make an idiot of themselves, and then spend the next day unable to get out of bed, with no recollection of what they did the night before.

I'm still, to this day, trying to figure out why people binge drink at all? It makes no sense.

I had my "time" of doing this when I was 15 up to when I was 18. I'm now very nearly 22 and I don't miss it at all.

Alcohol tastes crap anyway! :p :D ;)

I usually only drink if I have one given to me on a night out, but even then if it's minging (which most alcohol is IMO) I'll leave it and get a water/coke/whatever. Lots more money for random stuff too.

I'm not so sure about the savings aspect. OK the savings are there, but they're not as huge as people make out unless you get through £200/weekend on nights out.

I spend maybe £30 a week on alcohol or alcohol related activity.

That said, I drank a bottle of champagne, on my own, at home last night. :(

still £30 a week is £1500 a year(i dont know how much the average person spends on drink so i just used your figure)..and thats a lot of money if your at uni or something

personally i dont like drinking much although i do drink when i go out(rare occurance) as people seem to expect me to drink but i only drink as much as im comfortable with. i usually only drink i JD and coke or something similar because beer/cider/whatever just seems to taste nasty.

it doesnt seem to change my personality much though, im still a miserable *******

Nope, it isn't illegal for teenagers to drink, at least not in private. All our legislation (Scotland although I believe England to be the same) concerns the selling and/or consumption in licensed premises or in public. A parent has the obligation to safeguard the childs wellbeing but if they can do that and provide alcohol it wouldn't be a problem.

You have obviously been drinking the wrong stuff, it tastes gorgeous when I'm drinking. :p

im 19, and im not fussed by it either. The only thing with me is people dont tend to invite me out because they think i dont have fun coz i dont drink
I CAN HAVE A GOOD TIME WITHOUT IT!!! I dont completely disregard alcohol, dont get me wrong i do drink it. especially archers but still. You dont have to get drunk to have a good time. i just fall asleep

I found that. When I was younger I could pull an all nighter when I could barely stand. Nowadays when I drink I just feel tired and doze off :o

I live with an alcoholic at uni and at home

so its a pretty big disincentive, I've never really explained to people why I feel drinking can be bad, get strange looks and odd questions from time to time :(

I'm 26, and still get absolutely trolleyed. Am planning to cut down soon though... I tend to get memory loss after a heavy nights drinking. And my hangovers have tripled in intensity over a few years back. :(

I was 40 before I had my first proper pint and it just so happened to be Sara Hughes Dark Ruby which I can't touch anymore.
I have one pint when I go out and thats normally my limit.
About 4 times a year I might have up to 5 pints in one session - wow.

Don't be bothered about not drinking - it doesn't make you big and it doesn't make you clever.

Being 16, I've had the opportunity to drink and to get drunk, but I don't really want to. Being 6ft 4in, it might take quite a few to get me plastered, and tbh, I don't actually like the taste of alcohol. I looking forward to using that saved money when I get to uni!! :p
