Anyone else save Pennies?

I guess that 5-10% is from peoples' laziness. Most banks make you count it and bag it before they'll accept jars/tins of money these days..

This is true, Barclay's aren't too bad in my local town but LloydsTSB never except large amounts of change unless it's bagged but I don't really mind becuase I actually find it fun counting it all off and bagging it up.

I put everything less than a £1 coin in an upturned 50disc cd cake box. I used to chuck everything below a £5 note into one whilst at uni, but I need buses and things at the moment so keep £1 and £2 coins out of the tub. :)

Mine in my draw. Had only £20's worth of 1/2/5/10/20p's. That was for I think 6months.

I use a couple of Pringles tubes as they're pretty sturdy and have lids to them, it's just a whole lot easier than carrying the change about plus once every few months I've got enough cash to treat myself to a couple of DVDs or whatever. If I didn't chuck spare coins into there I'd only end up wasting it on something useless.

I regularly see 'the poor' pouring their change collections into these machines. They could get another can of special brew out of their £20 if they weren't so lazy.

This is why they are poor I guess.

Doesn't this taint your change with sour cream and onion flavour?

Surely anything other than what money smells like has to be better? Seriously you hold a penny for more than 30 seconds in your hand and it already smells bad.

Saying that, surely money has to be of the most handled items. Think about where it's been. I mean I wouldn't put a penny up my bum but I bet there are some sick freaks out there

I think we've just got a disturbing insight into the life of Mr 69 here....I don't taste it afterwards. :p

And it's a Salt & Vinegar tube and an Original flavour one so quite neutral really, a quick rinse out of the packs before putting money in would sort it out regardless.

I saw on the news this couple for around 20 years picked up any loose change they found on the street floors, houses, public places and eventually when they cashed it all in had over £300,000. So I've started picking up pennies around the house.... you never know lol

At Tesco they have a good machine that you can put change in to and it cashes it out in notes. We made a tenner the other day!

Lazy. They charge you about 8% normally so that tenner cost you 80p. Just get some bags from the bank and count it out yourself tbh.

Had a big 2l Gin bottle which I filled with coins. I think it was approaching £60 when it was full. Should start it off again really.

I got £25 worth of 5p coins, and about £50 worth of 1 & 2ps :D

Im starting again and got about £10+ already :D

I have a couple of big coffee jars I put all the change I get into these. One for <£1 and one for £1s and £2s. Occasionally I'll take from the £1/£2 jar for 5-a-side, cinema etc if I cba to go to the cashpoint and know I'll only need a few quid. Got £80 from both at last empty (only £20 from the £1/£2), nearly time to empty the small change jar, but the £1/£2 jar is empty atm :(

A standard size JD bottle works great for 5p coins. I fill mine roughly once a year and it's about £60.

I put my 1+2s in a charity box because they're just not worth keeping. 10s, 20s and 50s go in a separate tin and changed when it looks enough to buy something worth while

I've got mine in a Millions sweets container I got from the corner shop, does the trick for copper and silly 5p's. My £2 coins are kept bagged up as I collect them and then in a Quality Street tin.

I dont have any coins in my wallet, as keeping coins in there makes it a purse.

Highest I ever collected was £90 when me and my sister were younger, we'd regularly pester our parents for their change, and over a period of 4-5 years we racked up a load!!
