ill go for what ever is a good price and is what im after.

ive always had nv in the past and only in the last year i have got 2 4850's in crossfire and im happy as it does the job.

i will not buy a new card on the day it is released because that is sad in my eyes but that might be down to my age ?

if it isnt broken dont fix it.

im going to keep my 2 card's for at least 18 month's or more.

if people want to spend there hard earned cash on a card that cost's a month's rent then let them because i will not be one of them.

dont get me wrong......i know it's big business for ati and nv and those people keep the company's going.

im a fanboy for anything that work's for me.

I find it difficult to understand why anyone cares about stuff like product renaming, or how much each company is making, I mean seriously unless you’re a shareholder why the hell do you care? Makes no sense. I let the fanboys and care bears worry about that crap, it's all about the products for me, I dont care what there called, only how they perform.

Imo anyone who lets any of this corporate marketing crap effect what products they buy are imbeciles of the highest order.

OP sounds like an ATI fanboy tbh :D

My thoughts exactly. :p

Says so one of the bigger nVidia fanboys on here.

Nvidia has more fanboys because they produce items at a premium but are perceived to have a slightly higher quality. Same as with Apple. For some people that higher quality (percieved or real) is worth the extra. It is the people that buy into the concept that they are buying status by paying this premium that are fanboys.

Personally I am more concerned with getting the maximum performance out of my limited £ and recently that has been provided by ATi so I went with them.

I don't see people caring about how much each company is making when they decide about buying a product, they care about how much they are paying. So i don't see the relevance of your comment.

The rename its self is not the problem but the implications & that includes the every thing that you care about.

11, or even GDDR2/3/5. Caveat Emptor, as always, but if Gamerteen's Dad brings home the card that meets his budget without doublechecking if it's compatible with the newest features, he might just decide after several poor-performing games (@$60ea) that he should quit buying damn PC crap and use a console for gaming - after all, thats what they are for; and get a cheap OEM desktop or laptop for doing the bills on once a week.

While the new numbering scheme indicates relative performance in the range, it doesn't help to see the difference between the ranges - and this is a problem for both ATi and nVidia - where you have last gen's mid-range and want to spend the same again on this gen.... will you get the same card as before but rebadged and some 'new features' but no difference in game performance? Or will you get a whole new gaming experience? Will the marketing tell you? The best buy dude?

It was an example and ATI fanboys have loved bringing up how much more ATI make per card like i'm ment to care, simalar to bashing of nvidia for lacking DX10.1... LOL, yes because dx10.1 support is so importent right now, nvidia users are missing out on so much. :D

This is not just about product re-naming.

EDIT: I'm noticing allot of users here are on my ignore list, so If I don't reply you know why.

Interesting that Nvidia are bringing out DX10.1 capable cards then, eh?

I left nV because they were ripping us off with refreshes of the 88xx series. nV had a major lead in the graphics industry after making the 88xx series but decided to sit on it's laurels. They really should have wowed us with the 98xx series but didn't.

I think you have the context mixed up in which it is talked about.
It cost ATi less per card to make thus giving us lower prices for US.

10.1 was important before but its time has passed, even NV thought it was important enough to have it taken out of a game because it gave ATI more performance.

Unless more performance for free is not important to you.
